Woodrow Edwin “Woody” Taylor
1965 – 2025
Woodrow Edwin Taylor, known to friends and family as “Woody,” passed away at the age of 60 after a battle with respiratory illness. Fittingly, he was behind the wheel when he left us—doing what he’d done most of his life: hauling sod and driving big rigs across Texas and beyond.
Born in Illinois, Woody lived a life rooted in hard work, independence, and a deep love for music. Whether it was classic rock or old-school country, he could be found strumming his guitar, sitting behind a drum set, or blasting tunes on the road. Music and motion were in his blood.
He is survived by his father, Larry Taylor; and siblings Allen Taylor, Terry Taylor, Jerry Taylor, and Cindi Taylor. Woody will be remembered for his grit, his rhythm, and the stubborn streak that made him who he was. He will be deeply missed.
Some of my best memories go back to our teenage years in Mabank, Texas. One night, Dad had his work buddies over for a party, and Woody jumped behind the drum set like he was born to be there. He held the beat, cracked jokes between songs, and lit up the room with that big personality of his. He didn’t just play—he entertained. That night captured him perfectly: full of life, loud in all the best ways, and completely at home in the heart of the music.
Test driving the Mustang II… well, the rest is history.
Rest in peace, brother.
