Celebrating the Life of
November 15, 1938 — February 7, 2021
Winifred Gertrude Reed passed away on February 7th, 2021 in Show Low, Arizona at the age of 82.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sheldon Reed, son Donald Reed, Brother Franklin Pao (brother) and Greatgrandaughter Wendsday Reed. She is survived by her children Sheldon Reed II and his wife Linda Reed, daughter Linda Farrington and her husband Daniel Farrington, Robert Reed and Donna Irvine, as well as her grand children, Sheldon Reed III, David Farrington, Jason Reed, Michael Farrington, Brandon Reed and James Irvine. Wini was also survived by 15 great-grandchildren.
Wini was born on November 15, 1938, in Honolulu, Hawaii to Nicolas Rodriguez Pao and Mabel Sylvester Pao. She was the only girl in a family of five brothers. She had a very full childhood, with a large extended family which instilled in her the importance of family relationships and community involvement.
In 1973 Wini and Sheldon moved their family to Phoenix, AZ and embarked on a new beginning.
Wini lived out the remainder of her life in Pinetop, AZ, with frequent trips home to Hawaii.
Wini and Sheldon fell in love with the White Mountains during a tour of the state upon their arrival, and built their family home in the early 70’s. While Phoenix was their home for many years, Pinetop, AZ was where their dreams lay, and they moved there permanently in 1991.
In 2003, Wini realized one of her lifelong dreams. She opened Yarn and More, a knitting and craft store which offered, not only products, but a place for like-minded crafters to get together and share their skills. With such a strong family background, this was a truly fulfilling endeavor, to offer a place where people could be part of a community.
Wini only had to live with her Alzheimer’s for four years… During that time, she was supported and surrounded by family, and passed away in the presence of her loved ones. Her family takes comfort in the fact that she is with God and her family who has passed before her.
