Celebrating the Life of
February 19, 2005 — February 17, 2024
Horace “Wilson” Moore IV, age 18, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024. He was born February 19, 2005 in Wake County to Horace Wilson Moore III (Trey) and Elizabeth Ballard Moore (Betsy). As a Rolesville native, he was well known in the community for his love of God and family. He played many sports growing up including swimming, basketball, football, and baseball. In high school he wrestled, but baseball was his true love. He loved the game, and his teammates became his “brothers.” All coaches would agree that he was always there to cheer on his teammates and to go the extra mile.
In addition to being a stellar athlete, Wilson was an even better big brother. He was never too old to get on the ground to play or wrestle with his younger siblings whom they adoringly called “Stick.” A true lover of the outdoors, Wilson spent many hours fishing, hunting, and exploring in the woods. While he loved sports and the outdoors, his greatest joy was spending time with all his family and friends.
To know Wilson was to truly love him. As an active member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Raleigh, Wilson’s love of God shined through with his willingness to serve and grow in Christ. He was very involved in the youth group and served on session. Some of his best memories were of going to Massanetta and Montreat with the youth group.
There was never a dull moment when Wilson was around. He made everyone smile with his antics, brought laughter with his pranks, and had the best “bang, bang” dance moves. His infectious laugh and genuine smile could light up even the darkest of rooms. A bright light gone too soon, Wilson will be remembered for his kind spirit, his endless generosity, and his energetic love of life.
Wilson is survived by his mother Betsy Moore of Rolesville; his father and stepmother Trey and Rebecca Moore of Raleigh, his sister Blaire and brother Weston; grandparents Sam and Ann Ballard of Hamlet; grandparents Audrey and Wilson Moore of Rockingham; step grandmother Paula Coffey of Durham; as well as many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. Wilson meant so much to so many people and he will be deeply missed.
A service to celebrate Wilson’s life will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 3120 N. New Hope Rd, Raleigh, NC 27604. A reception will follow the service from 2:00pm-4:00pm in the church fellowship hall.
