Obituary for William Malave
William Malave, born on May 21, 1925, in San Sebastián, Puerto Rico, to the late Octavio Malave and Pascuala Francisca Torres, entered eternal rest on June 11, 2021, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family.
From a young age, William demonstrated an extraordinary work ethic, beginning his first job at just four years old, cleaning shoes and selling newspapers in shopping malls and plazas across Puerto Rico. His dedication to hard work was unwavering, as he took on the responsibility of supporting his parents and ensuring his siblings could attend college, often sacrificing his own education to secure a better future for his family.
William proudly served his nation during World War II as a military policeman, embodying the values of duty and honor. After the war, his passion for education led him to a career as a school teacher. His commitment to excellence and his profound impact on students’ lives propelled him to leadership roles as a school principal and later as the superintendent of Las Marías, Puerto Rico. His contributions to education and his community are a lasting testament to his dedication to learning and leadership.
A devout man of God, William was a proud member of the Bridgeport Spanish Seventh-Day Adventist Church, where his faith was central to his life. He lived a righteous life filled with love, laughter, and blessings, exemplifying what it meant to be a man of faith and a pillar of his community.
William was a loving father, an exemplary grandfather, and a cherished great-grandfather. He was married to the love of his life, Providencia Berio Busutil, with whom he raised five children: Aixa Malave (Acevedo), William Malave, Carlos Malave, Jose Malave, and Angel Josue Malave. His family was his pride and joy, and he took immense delight in his role as a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and cousin.
Preceded in death by his parents, Octavio Malave and Pascuala Francisca Torres, his siblings, and his beloved wife, William’s legacy lives on through his children, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, and the many lives he touched throughout his remarkable journey.
William Malave’s life was a testament to hard work, sacrifice, love, and devotion to God and family. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
