Celebrating the Life of
November 12, 1982 — October 1, 2025
12 November 1982 — 1 October 2025
Tiffany “Granny T” Shembe, beloved matriarch, storyteller, and fierce cookie-baker, passed away peacefully on 1 October 2025 at the age of 42. Born on 12 November 1982, Tiffany filled every room she entered with laughter, warmth, and a uniquely contagious sense of mischief that made ordinary days memorable.
Tiffany wore many hats in her too-brief life: grandmother, sister, tireless friend, and the neighborhood’s unofficial problem-solver. She was the keeper of family recipes (no fork in the cake, she’d say), the champion of bedtime stories that lasted too long, and the maker of impossible Sunday lunches that drew cousins from miles away. She made being “Granny” an art form: generous with hugs, exacting with advice, and relentless in cheering on everyone she loved.
She is survived by her children, grandchildren—who insisted on calling her “Granny T” even when she tried to be stern—her siblings, and a wide circle of friends who will miss her sharp laugh and sharper wit. She leaves behind a legacy of homemade preserves, well-worn storybooks, and a fierce belief that family should always come first.
A celebration of Tiffany’s life will be held privately with close family, and a public gathering to share memories and recipes will take place on Saturday, 11 October 2025. All who knew her are invited to bring a story, a photo, or a plate to pass—Tiffany insisted that grief must be met with good food and louder laughter.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that small acts of kindness be done in Tiffany’s name: teach a child to read, share a meal with a neighbor, or make a batch of her famous biscuits for someone who needs one.
“Love loudly, eat biscuits first, and never let anyone tell you not to dance in the kitchen,” was Tiffany’s favorite line — a small commandment she practiced every single day.
Rest well, Granny T. You gave us joy, and that joy will keep us warm for a long, long time .
