In Loving Memory of Sylvia Delores (Nash) Oliver Robinson
Beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Woman of Faith
Sylvia Delores (Nash) Oliver Robinson, a devoted mother, grandmother, and woman of unwavering faith, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a rich legacy of love, service, and creativity. Born in Manhattan, New York to Monroe and Millie Nash, Sylvia's life was marked by deep devotion to family, a nurturing spirit, and a steadfast belief in God.
Sylvia spent many years of her life in Queens, New York, where she and her first husband, the late William James Oliver, raised their children and built a loving home together. It was there that Sylvia embraced her role as a stay-at-home mother, pouring her heart into raising her family while also extending her care to others through an in-home daycare and early learning center. In addition to caring for her own children and daycare students, Sylvia opened her home to several foster children over the years, offering them stability, love, and the warmth of a true family. Her love for children and passion for teaching shaped the lives of many young ones who passed through her doors.
After the passing of her first husband, Sylvia later found love again and began a new chapter in Charlotte, North Carolina, with her second husband, the late Alexander Robinson. Together, they built a warm and welcoming home that continued to be a place of joy, comfort, and fellowship for family and friends.
Sylvia was a proud graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, where she honed her natural gift for design. She created beautiful, hand-sewn garments for her family and friends — each piece crafted with skill and love. She was equally talented in the kitchen, known for her delicious meals and heartfelt hospitality. Her home was the heart of every holiday and special occasion, filled with laughter, warmth, and the smells of her home-cooked dishes.
Sylvia was a woman of deep faith who lived her life according to the Word and will of God. She was a source of spiritual strength for those around her, embodying Christ’s love in all she did.
She was preceded in death by both of her husbands and her beloved eldest son, William Jeffrey Oliver.
She leaves behind her loving daughter, Sharnda Beatty, and son-in-law, Antonio Beatty; her treasured grandchildren, Cassandra D’Aguilar, William Oliver, Jasmine Beatty, Brianna Oliver, Kamani Oliver, Najee Oliver, and Nalija Oliver. She also leaves behind a host of extended family members, friends, and former students whose lives were forever touched by her love, wisdom, and care.
Sylvia’s legacy of faith, family, and creativity will live on through every life she shaped and every memory she helped create.
