Celebrating the Life of
July 30, 1952 — September 20, 2024
With heavy hearts (and a proper cup of tea), we announce the passing of Susan Guy, proud Englishwoman, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and lifelong Disney diva. Susan’s loyal English cream retriever, Trevor, has surely joined her, chasing squirrels through some grand royal park in the sky.
Susan leaves behind her sister Annette (Roger) Pettit, children Jane (Mark) Young, Spencer Davies, and Melissa (Pete) Rusler, along with a small army of grandkids, great-grandkids, and her honorary daughter Caitlyn. A master kid-wrangler, Susan ran a daycare for years, raising her own kids and probably half the neighborhood’s too. If she could handle a room full of toddlers, she could handle anything. Many of those now-grown children still credit her with their good manners, British accents, and an undying love for biscuits.
An animal lover to the core, Susan dedicated years to the Buddy Dog Humane Society, rescuing every furry friend that crossed her path. She was a professional belly-rubber, treat-giver, and a savior to countless creatures with four legs. She saved so many pets that the local shelter should probably have a plaque in her honor. (we're working on that).
But Susan wasn’t just an animal hero—she spent 23 magical years at Disney as the “Queen” of the Crystal Palace. There, she charmed guests from all over the world with her quick wit, dazzling smile, and infectious laughter. Even the grumpiest park-goers couldn’t resist her charm, and she earned Disney's prestigious Legacy Award. Of course, in typical Susan fashion, she probably just quipped, “Just doing my royal duty!”
For the last few years, Susan faced Parkinson’s disease and heart problems, but in true British fashion, she took it on with a stiff upper lip and a laugh, never letting it dull her sparkle.
Her love for England was legendary—especially tea, dry humor, and the chance to drop a “bloody” into conversation with perfect timing. Her sarcasm was so sharp, it could slice through the thickest London fog, and her wit brightened any room she entered.
A celebration of Susan’s extraordinary life will be held soon. In lieu of flowers, please honor her memory by saving a dog. Donations can be made to

Amazing Queen 👑 life will never be the same without her, miss her stories and jokes

Reading Susan's obituary today, Ileen and I learned so much more about the woman who "commanded the Podium" at The Crystal Palace. Ileen and I thank her children who shared memories and facts about Susan, the total person, and we are so grateful to have been blessed to be a part of this amazing woman's life. As a former cast member at The Crystal Palace, encountering Susan was quite "magical." I was told that "I" intimidated people in past jobs. Well, in 2014, I met my match when she called out her Assignor instructions to me as a Greeter! Susan, Ileen and I shared a love for boxers and all animals. We kept in touch over the years as her medical issues got worse. We share a special bond, and we are so grateful to have spoken with her just a short while before she died. Susan will forever be remembered and loved.

Sending love and condolences to our beloved friend Spencer, and his family, at this time. His Mum was obviously a special lady.
