July 11, 1946 — January 13, 2021
Due to the pandemic, please join us in the virtual celebration of the life and legacy of a loving and devoted father, brother, friend, mentor, teacher, and servant of God on Saturday, Feb 27, 2021, at 11:30 AM PT.
Rev. Stephan Tucker Scott, M.B.A. passed away in his sleep from Presumptive Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome due to COVID-19, on January 13, 2021, at age 74, at home in Canyon Lake, CA. He was born July 11, 1946, in Aurora, IL to the late Rev. David and Mary Jane Scott, a Methodist Bishop and school teacher respectively. He was the 2nd of 4 children, including David, Susan, and Timothy. At the age of 4, his family moved to the Los Angeles, CA area, where he lived the rest of his life. He attended Russell Street and Mckinley Elementary schools and graduated from Centennial High School in Compton, CA in 1964.
He attended Fisk University in Nashville, TN from 1964-1970 where he studied history and political science and earned a BA in History. He was also the President of the Student Government Association, a Member of the Board of Directors of Fisk Student Enterprises, made the Dean's List, and became a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Eta Psi Chapter. In 1975 Stephan also earned a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Cal State Dominguez Hills, where he was on the Dean's Honor Roll.
Stephan entered the workforce at Xerox Corporation, quickly rising to the position of Sales Executive and Marketing Manager from 1974-1982, where he also served as Product Launch Manager for new products in the Los Angeles area, Manager of the Xerox Business Seminar at the University of Southern California and Manager of the Human Resource Program. He went on to work for Invest Financial Corporation as a Sales Manager over seven western states. He then spent 12 years at AXA Equitable as a District Manager. In 1996 he co-founded Scott & Nunn Consulting and up until his passing served as Managing Partner providing personal and business consulting in the areas of finance, management and marketing. In 2019, he retired from teaching business management, supervision, business communication and marketing at West Los Angeles College where he spent 43 years as an Adjunct Professor.
Stephan loved the Lord, his family, the church, studying the Bible, mentoring young men and entrepreneurs, teaching the word of God and following sports. He was a charismatic speaker who was a devout follower of Jesus Christ and an ordained minister who used God's word as his source of wisdom. His church family would agree that you could always hear his strong bass voice as he sang a joyful noise unto the Lord. He was very active with his fraternity, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Zeta Rho Chapter and their community service initiatives and scholarship programs. He was also active for 40 years with Junior Achievement Los Angeles, assisting youth in the development and implementation of their business plans. Motivating youth to dream, then turn their dreams into reality.
Stephan is survived by his daughter, Olympia Scott, son, Stephen Thomas Scott and his wife Rebecca, and step-son Trent Strickland, grandchildren, BreAzia Richardson, Micaiah Kelley, Makailah Kelley, Tyler Strickland, Travis Strickland, Logann Scott, Rachman Crable, Jr, and Walter Crable, sister, Susan Porter and her husband Homer Porter, nephews, David Scott and Leslie Porter, nieces, Marye Scott and Wanda Scott, and a host of relatives, friends, church family members, students and fraternity brothers.

Thank you to everyone for offering condolences, support and prayers. Thank you to our family who has loved and cared for our father so well; his friends whom he loved; his fraternity brothers; his students and mentees that he poured into; and everyone who touched his life and was blessed to be touched by his.
One of Stephan's last messages to everyone:
"I am so thankful and humble because God has been so good to me and I pray His blessing for all."
Summing up his life up in three words, refer to one of his favorite verses in the Bible:
"…with men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." Matt 19:26
"…but with God…"

My father took us to Hawaii when I was 8 years old. We had so much fun! This is one of my favorite photos because it is so unique (you can't see that this is a surfboard we're standing on, in a giant wave), and because we had so much fun while we were there. It captures one of my favorite memories from childhood. RIP daddy!

Elder Steve from day one he was alway looking to do any and everything for the work of the Lord there wasn’t nobody that he would not tell about the goodness of our Lord Jesus Christ about, He was very active in outreach!Well done my good & fateful servant in the LORD. 😇🙏🏾🦅 Amen
Dear Olympia, Steve Jr., Sue, and the entire family, Martha, Robin, myself, and the entire Tucker family extend our most heartfelt condolences to you during this time of bereavement. Our prayers are with you and we will see you soon for the virtual homegoing celebration of Steve's great life and contributions to this world and our lives! Much love!
Steven Scott and I met when he was young boy in 1955 when his uncle Walter brought me to LA to live. We became fast friends, as Steve always made me feel very respected and special. He kept up with me and family-- spiritually, and virtually. Steve, I will miss your pride in family accomplishments. Rest is heaven with family and friends.
BROTHER SCOTT WAS GOOD MAN, FRATERNITY BROTHER AND FRIEND. HIS FAITH WAS PURE. WE HAD MANY RELIGIOUS DISCUSSIONS. HE BAPTIZED ME SO MY SOUL WOULD BE CLLEANSED AND I WOULD JOIN HIM IN HEAVEN WITH LORD JESUS'S CHRIST. I KNOW HE IS RESTING IN PEACE. AMEN

While Stephan and I both went to Fisk, we did not meet until Dec. 25th, 2020! Our mutual love of the Lord brought us together on social media. Everyday after that, we talked for hours, praying, laughing, sharing the ups and downs of our lives since Fisk. Stephan was truly a treasure and I will continue to keep the family in my prayers.
Sending all our prayers and condolences to Olympia and Stephen and the entire Scott family much love Debra Knighten and Family 😇🥰
