Sheila Ruth Velez , age 78 , passed away on Monday , February 27, 2023 , at her home in Morristown, AZ. She was born on September, 12, 1944 , in Alvin, TX. to Patricia Lee Cripe & Jim Allen Wheelis. She was the eldest of five siblings, Bill (aka Brother Bill), Katherine (aka Kat), Patricia (aka Charlie), and Alpha (aka Alphers). A graduate of The University of California, San Bernardino with a Bachelors degree in Sociology. She worked as a California Department Rehabilitation Senior counselor for many years. Sheila will be remembered as one who lived fearlessly and with her whole heart, not letting a disability that confined her to a wheelchair for over 57 years of her life change her adventurous spirit. She touched so many lives around the world. She loved Jesus and knew Him as her personal Lord and Savior. She loved to cook, eat chocolate, have adventures, travel the world, and she did! Sheila is survived by her son Vincent Allen Velez, grandchildren Andrew and Andrea Velez, great grandchildren Branson and Braylynn Velez. Family and friends whose lives have been touched are invited to share their memories and photos to celebrate Sheila's life. She would want us to live life to the fullest, believe in Jesus, and love others with joy in our hearts celebrating the life we have been given.
