Aunt Sandra, a.k.a. "Aunt T" when I was little, was very special to all those around her and to those whose lives she touched. Angels crafted this loving person with a compassionate soul, gentle disposition, and a warm smile. Sandra was as genuine as they come. She was passionate about teaching. Her heart led her to focus on children with special learning deficits. Sandra's joys in education were when she saw her students succeed, whether with small endeavors, or major accomplishments. Back when she was a principal at my elementary school, St. Francis Cabrini on Paris Avenue, I thought wow, how cool. Until I was called into the 'principal's' office on 2 occasions. Once for getting a detention for talking in class and the other for bending a fork in the cafeteria. Sandra knew on each occasion she had to 'discipline' me but fought hard to suppress grins at my downtrodden face. Instead of getting whacked with a paddle I had to bring another fork from home to replace the one I bent. With regard to the detention, she left the heavy lifting to my parents for when I got home after school. Let's just say that I didn't get another detention, period. Whenever she would come by our house, she was always willing to make time for me and my siblings. Sandra was no stranger to playing with us in Spades tournaments or Canasta championships. She taught me several lessons over the years including having patience and tolerance. Sandra was one to lead by example. She didn't have to raise her voice to get her point across. Besides cats, ceramic figurines, and her view of City Park, Sandra was very much in love with her husband, Bernie Cox. Very rarely were they apart. A true representation of what a loving couple should aspire to be. Outside of family and friends, 'Books for Soldiers' was there shared passion in helping others. I lost count of how many books they shipped out, but, when reading some of the 'Thank you' notes they'd received, it was easy to see why they did it. Sandra will always have a lasting impact to all the lives she touched and interacted with. I'm blessed that she was my godmother and will be dearly missed. But not forgotten. Sean Raymond
we were school mates at SJA. Class of 1958. Sandra was always a very sweet girl. We had some classes together and I remember she was very smart. I know she will be missed. Judy Landry
