Celebrating the Life of
March 1, 1977 — October 15, 2013
Race Track
This is a small tribute to members of our racing family who are no longer with us. People that contributed to our sport (specifically from San Antonio Speedway) from 1977 to 2013. They are the drivers, owners, tuners, photographers, representatives and builders who made it all happen on that beautiful 1/2 mile track.
In no way do we want to slight or diminish the contributions of those who ran other tracks but this site has a time line and formatted for memories of San Antonio Speedway. Please share your memory with a picture if so desired. The track may have closed but the legends will live on in our hearts forever.
Please share a photo or video, or post a heartfelt condolence to the family.

A loving father, grandfather, son, brother and friend, Jim Lonnie “Troop” Blevins went to be with the Lord on January 21, 2022, at the age of 53. He was born on October 1, 1968 in San Antonio, TX. He is preceded in death by his mother, Patsy Blevins. Jim is survived by his loving children, Darin Blevins and Kurstin Stine (Ryan); father, Jimmie Lee Blevins; grandson, Ryder Stine; girlfriend, Elizabeth Blackstock; sister, Kathy Hubbell (Greg); nieces, Megan Watts (Dillon) and Ashley Hubbell; great-niece and great-nephew, Evelyn Watts and Bryson Watts, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends. Jim was a graduate of Highlands High School. He spent the majority of his career in the paint and body business. Along with the love he had for his family and friends, Jim had a passion for racing. He began drag racing with his dad at the age of 14. After about 10 years of drag racing he decided to challenge himself and go stock car racing. Jim’s love for racing allowed him to thrive socially and opened many doors to life-long friendships. Outside of the race track Jim enjoyed entertaining friends and family. Especially his grandson, Ryder, whom he was eager to introduce racing to, and was the light of his life. Jim will be remembered for loving big and racing hard.
