Ruby was born in Sledge, Mississippi, to her parents, Vokin Wright (deceased) and Bernice Pride Adams (Atlanta, GA). Soon after, the family moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where Ruby was raised with love and strong values.
Ruby attended LaRose Elementary and Hamilton Middle School. Ruby was lovingly raised by grandparents, Lester Pride and Addie Pride, both of whom preceded her in death.
Ruby was married once to Roy Johnson. Life was richly blessed with three beloved daughters:
• Demetrice Amos-Richards and husband Delano of Atlanta, Georgia
• Bernice Christina Taylor of Memphis, Tennessee
• Shante’ Yvette Johnson James and husband Suadavius of Houston, Texas
Ruby was preceded in death by two brothers, James Earl Pride and Jimmy Lumpkin. Ruby is survived by one brother, Horace Lumpkin of Memphis, Tennessee.
Ruby leaves behind a legacy of love through 5 granddaughters, 4 grandsons, and 1 great grandson, who will forever cherish precious memories.
