Obituary for RR Sri Hindarjati Dahana
RR Sri Hindarjati Dahana, affectionately known as Yaya, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2024, in St. John's, Florida, at the age of 82. Born on September 10, 1941, in Purbolinggo, Indonesia, Sri's life was a testament to the profound impact one individual can have through kindness, dedication, and a loving heart.
A proud graduate of the University of Hawaii, Sri earned her Master of Library Science degree and used her education to enrich the lives of many. She served as a passionate educator, teaching Indonesian Language Studies at the University of Hawaii, and made significant contributions as a training facilitator, collaborating with clients worldwide. Her career was marked by a commitment to fostering cross-cultural understanding and sharing her love for knowledge.
In retirement, Sri remained deeply engaged with the Indonesian Chapter of Children’s International Summer Villages (CISV), where she played a pivotal role in leading delegations of Indonesian students to the US and Canada. Her efforts helped bridge cultures and create lasting connections among young people from diverse backgrounds.
Sri was beloved for her kind spirit, radiant smile, and infectious laugh. She had an extraordinary ability to connect with everyone she met, leaving them uplifted and smiling. Her warmth and generosity touched countless lives, and she will be remembered with deep affection by all who knew her.
Sri is survived by her devoted husband, Abdullah Dahana; her daughter, Fitha Dahana-Ellis; her son-in-law, Aaron Ellis; her cherished grandchildren, James and Mia Dahana-Ellis; and her siblings, R Hindarmoko and RR Sri Hidarwati. Her legacy of love, kindness, and joy will continue to inspire and comfort her family and friends.
Family and friends whose lives were touched by Sri are invited to celebrate her remarkable life and the joy she brought to so many. A memorial gathering will be held at the St. Johns Forest Amenity Center, 100 St. Johns Forest Blvd., St. Johns, FL 32259, on Sunday, September 8, 2024, from noon to 3 p.m.
Sri will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those she loved and those who loved her.

Talking or being with mba Yaya was always a joyful occassion. A lot of laughters for sure. We created sweet memories regardless of what we did. Mba Yaya and I both like margarita. We always talked about when will we drink margarita again. When she stayed with me in Chicago, we certainly made time for margarita. Cheers to you mba. Happy birthday in heaven (8/10).
