Celebrating the Life of
August 16, 1942 — April 10, 2024
Roy James Boehrer passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 10th, 2024. Roy was born on August 16, 1942, in Berkley, CA. His Mother, Katherine, and Father, Milton, had a large extended family there and Roy and his Younger brother, Jerry, were raised around this family. Roy always told great stories about being a kid in the Berkley area. If he was not bringing a shark home that he caught in Berkly Bay to put in the bathtub (His mom was not happy about this) he would race his car against friends. Roy was always known as a gentle giant.
In 1965 Roy was drafted into the Army and reluctantly served. Although he was reluctant, he was always someone who would give everything to what he was doing. His MOS was a cook, but we all knew better by the stories he would tell about his time in Korea and Vietnam. I don’t know how many “Cooks” came home saying they hated helicopters and would never fly in one again. Roy served honorably and was discharged in 1967.
Soon after returning home, Roy met the love of his life, Cynthia (Cindy) Bailey and they were married on April 20th, 1968. Roy liked to tell the story of when he bought his first house, he found out Cindy was pregnant, and he wanted to cancel the purchase because he feared being a dad. Roy and Cindy had five children. Michael, Daniel, and David were all born in the Bay Area in CA. Shortly after the third child was born, they moved to Citrus Heights, CA and had two more children, Bryan, and Jennifer. Roy followed in his fathers’ footsteps and became a meat cutter. He spent years at meat counters with his dad as a kid, so it just seemed right to him.
After cutting meat for years, he became a manager and then purchased partial ownership in a grocery store. After he sold his interest in that store, he went to work managing another store before retiring in 2002.
Roy loved serving others, and spent most of his life in the service of others. Roy was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day saints.
Roy has left a legacy and is survived by numerous people whose lives he touched, but none more important to him than his wife, four sons, daughter, and his brother Jerry. Although, most would argue that he loved his grandkids and great grandkids more than anything. Chelsea, Alexys, Katherine, Taylor, Tyler, Bryce, Marianne, Joshua, Jacob, Jarom, Samuel, Cali, Hailey, Jackson, Tucker, Bailey, and his great grandkids Clair and Chase.
Family and Friends are invited to a celebration of life on April 27th at 3:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints 7800 Santa Juanita Ave Folsom, CA 95630. All are welcome. There are sure to be some great stories shared, laughter and tears. Miss you Dad.

I serve in the Bennion Home Veterans Branch. We enjoyed getting to know Roy. He always had a smile on his face, and a kind word to share. We were able to take him to the temple with us a few times, and it was a joy to share that time with him. His comments in Sacrament Meeting were always appropriate, and well thought out. The last time I pushed him back to his room, we sang in the hall. What a wonderful man. So sorry for the loss you feel at this time, but I'm sure he is watching out for you. I hope you feel peace, and know he lived his life as a disciple of the Lord.
