Roxa Lee (Wachter) Weese departed this life peacefully at her home of 60 years in Fairfax, Virginia, on April 30, 2024. “Roxie” was born on August 1, 1927, to Charles Wachter and Bessie Stotler in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 48 years, Harry T. Weese, of Elkins, West Virginia; six brothers and sisters; granddaughter Angelica Stark and her son in law Eric French. She is survived by her daughters Susan Weese, Fairfax, VA and Patricia Weese French, Fairfax, VA; 4 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
She attended Washington-Lee High School in Arlington, VA, followed by a career that included the New Zealand Ministry in Washington, DC, The American Cancer Society, a Medical Assistant in a private practice and over 20 years as a Preschool Teacher where she touched the lives of hundreds of young children.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading, watching old western movies, antiquing, traveling, and sewing and crafts. Roxie and Harry made countless trips to Ocean City, MD, Rehoboth Beach, DE and the Outer Banks, NC. Her favorite vacation was a family cruise to Key West and Mexico.
Roxie was a charter member of the Church of Christ in Falls Church, Virginia. She remained a faithful follower of Christ for her entire life. Her love for the church and her strong faith in God was shared daily. She was a beautiful lady both inside and out. Her love, kindness, and generosity leave a legacy to be celebrated by all who knew and loved her.
