Rowena Renee Farmer 78, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on July 25, 2024, in Seneca, Kansas, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on November 4, 1946, in Whittier, California, Renee spent most of her life in Arizona, living over 50 of those years in Tolleson.
Renee worked with dedication and passion for the Littleton School District for more than 35 years, retiring in 2009 to fully embrace her cherished role as a grandmother. Her family was her greatest joy, and she lovingly supported and nurtured them through every stage of their lives.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, James Farmer
Her daughters, Jody O’Rielly and her husband Jim O’Rielly. Susan O’Rielly and her husband Joe O’Rielly. Her son, James Farmer and his wife Sarah Farmer. Her Brother Douglas Hardy, his wife Deb Hardy and their family. Her her sister Rella Stone and her family. And her brother in law Jim Davis husband to her late sister Ranell Davis.
Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Stacey Jones, Courtney O’Rielly, Kiara St. Amand, Heather Bavington, Kaylee O’Rielly, Mike Farmer, Wyatt Farmer, and Matt Farmer. Her great-grandchildren, Katherine, Gabriel, Galilee, Rex, Ward, Rafferty, and Huntington, were the bright lights of her life.
Renee was known for her love of holidays and festive decorations, with Christmas being her favorite time of year. She enjoyed puzzles, crafting, and traveling, and always had a new project in mind. She was the queen of gingerbread houses, and the maker of the infamous Hardy Christmas Cookies.
But most of all, Renee cherished her family. She was a mother to anyone who needed her and a grandma to all who crossed her path. Her family can recall many holidays where out of state teachers came and celebrated with the family while away from their own. Her warmth, kindness, and unconditional love made her a cherished figure in the lives of many. she was truly the definition of the family matriarch.
Renee will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Arizona.
