Celebrating the Life of
August 13, 1935 — February 9, 2026
Roseann Marie Morgan lived a long, full, and very well-organized life. She was 90 years old when she passed away in the early morning hours of February 9, 2026, in Chesapeake, Virginia. She was born on August 13, 1935, in Indianapolis, Indiana, and from those Midwestern beginnings she carried forward a lifetime of grit, grace, thrift, and love.
Roseann grew up in a blue-collar family with humble means and strong values. With both parents working, she became a latchkey kid early, learning responsibility young…sometimes sooner than she might have liked…but always surrounded by genuine love. Those early years shaped her belief in hard work, doing things right the first time, and pulling your weight, lessons she would model the rest of her life.
She graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1953 and soon began a career at Texaco. Starting in the steno pool, Roseann’s intelligence, organization, and meticulous nature quickly set her apart, and she rose to become the executive secretary to a divisional manager…a great achievement. It was at Texaco that she met the love of her life, Paul. They were married for 57 years, a partnership marked by devotion, teamwork, and the understanding that family always came first.
Texaco would relocate the Morgans nine times over the course of 40 years. Each move meant a new house, new neighbors, and new routines…but Roseann had a gift: wherever they landed, she made a home. Her houses were places of structure, warmth, and order, where expectations were clear, but love was evident. Eventually, she stepped away from her career to raise her two sons, a role she took on with pride and purpose.
Roseann was famously thrifty and believed strongly that “a penny saved is a penny earned” and that “a fool and his money will soon part.” She also often reminded her family, “Think ahead, plan ahead,” a phrase that perfectly captured her love of order, preparation, and doing things well. These sayings weren’t just words…they were a lifestyle. Yet beneath her careful budgeting and high standards was a generous heart. She offered her time and talents in various roles at church, volunteered in the PTA and school reading programs, and cared for neighbors as dear friends.
She was a woman of strong convictions. A proud political conservative, she believed deeply in personal responsibility, hard work, and love of country. Her patriotism was sincere and steadfast, and she was never afraid to speak her mind about what she believed was right.
Creatively, Roseann found joy in making and painting ceramics and exploring crafts of all kinds. She had an artistic spirit and a steady hand, producing beautiful, thoughtful pieces that reflected her patience and attention to detail.
Her faith was central to her life. At just seven years old, she committed her life to Jesus during a Vacation Bible School, and that love for God never wavered. The 23rd Psalm was a regular comfort, a passage she memorized as a child and recited often throughout her life. It sustained her in every season. Her family rests in the assurance that though she has walked through the valley of the shadow of death, she now dwells in the house of the Lord forever…perfectly at peace…no doubt keeping everything in excellent order!
Roseann was a loyal friend who inspired goodness simply by how she lived. Her legacy lives on in a family that values faith, integrity, kindness, respect for all people, and hard work done well.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul Morris Morgan; her parents, Walter Edwin Showers and Frieda Norman Showers; and her brother, William “Bill” Showers. She is survived by her sons, Stephen Paul Morgan (Mary Katherine Orr Morgan) and Kenneth Brian Morgan (Tammy Polak Morgan); her grandchildren Stephen Joshua Morgan (Emelie), Courtney Kolski (Chris), Olivia Marie Dyer (Jacob), Katherine Ann Lee (Taylor), Brian Morgan (Alexandra), Audrey Jane Garcia (Aaron), and Claire Elizabeth Schreck (Matthew); and her great-grandchildren Fletcher Morgan, Taft Morgan, Mason Kolski, Wiley Morgan, Riley Kolski, Liam Kolski, Jesse Dyer, Miles Lee, Dolly Dyer and Brooks Morgan.
