He is also survived by his sisters, Kim Franklin and husband Richard Franklin, Gina Dean, Connie Richardson and husband Sam Richardson, and Joann French and husband Roy French, along with many beloved nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory forever.
Roger dedicated his career to the coal mining industry, beginning as a hardworking roof bolter in the mines. Through incredible work ethic, determination, and drive, he worked his way up to Superintendent and eventually to Chief Operations Officer. He earned the respect of everyone who worked alongside him through his leadership, perseverance, and commitment to providing for his family.
Roger loved boating and spending time with his family, making countless treasured memories with those he loved most. A proud native of Shady Spring, West Virginia, he especially enjoyed his retirement years in Florida, where he embraced the peaceful life and warm sunshine he loved so much. Roger will be remembered for his strong faith, his tireless dedication to those he loved, and the example he set through a lifetime of hard work and integrity. A memorial service will be held in his honor at a later date in Beckley, WV.
