Celebrating the Life of
May 6, 1956 — September 8, 2021
Rochon L. Dibble was born in Chicago, IL on May 6, 1956 and transitioned on Sept. 8, 2021.
Rochon was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She was a leader of the pack, with a bright smile, quick wit, and caring disposition. She was a renaissance woman but her heart and soul were firmly rooted in the magical era of peace and love - the 70's, and she wore that moniker proudly.
She was a dreamer with a compassionate and nurturing nature, always remembering to reach out on those special occasions just to say "I was thinking about you". Friends for life, she loved and adored those she touched on her long and winding journey.
Family was a top priority and passion for her. Rochon was the quintessential big sister, ensuring each of her siblings got in the game, a cheerleader throughout their successes, but there with open arms for setbacks. She was her Daddy's girl and her Mommy's heart, as she was their first born and created a lifelong bond that could never be broken.
She was an academic, reaching the top of her class at Kenwood, Northfield Mount Hermon, UNC Chapel Hill, and Georgetown Law. Passing 2 law bars on her first attempt may have been her crowning achievement. She loved politics and spent endless hours in political campaigns, generally championing the underdog, and later in public service.
Throughout her life she loved, laughed, cried and cuddled. She was preceded in death by her father, Big Gene, and will be joining a BBQ in the heavens with endless friends and family members.
Rochon is survived by her mother, Jeanette C. Dibble, her sisters Chyla D. Evans and Hillary D. Baltimore, her brothers Eugene H. Dibble IV and Andrew E. Dibble, her long-time partner, Ron McElroy and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She is at peace now, and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. The family is planning a virtual Celebration of Life in the near future.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tuskegee University in the name of Eugene H. Dibble III and Rochon L. Dibble Fund. Details to follow.

Rochon and I met at age 3. There are innumerable childhood memories of my dear friend. She was brilliant, kind, loving and adventurous. I am so happy we were able to reconnect and reminisce. Her verve was irrepressible! RIP Queen.

Rochon and I met in 1976 when we pledged Delta Sigma Theta together. We remained friends through each of us attending law school. And in 1983, she honored me by being a bride's maid in my wedding. Rest easy my sister!

Rochon loved any water, but especially a warm sandy beach where she could lie in the sun for hours!

Rochon loved sharing good times with good friends
We met in second grade and had a very tight circle of girl friends. We all went together to The Y for swim, gymnastics, roller skating, Aphrodite...... Eventually we were Madison Park across the street neighbors where we played tackle football and Piggy with the boys. I was pulled into the Dibble Clan (they're related to everyone). Through this relationship I was afforded the opportunity to make even more lifetime friends and create awesome experiences and memories. This photo is from the last time I saw Rochon at Big Gene's Memorial BBQ. We picked up right where we left off like it has always been with all of these special childhood friends and families. You will be missed by many. RIP my dear friend.

We met in 1974 while attending UNC Chapel Hill. Rochon became my best friend and we shared many exciting and fun adventures including our initiation into Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. I was pleased when she agreed in 1981 to be Maid Of Honor at my wedding. Finally an end to all the set-up blind dates. Her laughter and calmness will always be remembered.
