Robert "Bob" Arthur Stanley, Jr. passed away peacefully at his home
in Shandaken on April 24th 2024 He was born on February 24, 1942 to Lillian Kubat and Robert Stanley of Brooklyn and will be missed by his sister Lorena Griffin of Staten Island and Arthur Stanley of Arizona. Bob lived a full life of many adventures. In his early years, he raced cars and often shared the story of his short notoriety of holding the speed record in drag racing, until the next guy broke his record less than a minute later. He set aside the excitement of racing when he met the love of his life, Alexandria "Sandy" Cassley whom he quickly married and created a life and family with for 46 years.
He was predeceased by his wife in 2014. Bob leaves behind their three children, Robert Stanley of Pine Hill, James Stanley of Saugerties and Alexandria AuCoin of Hallowell, Maine along with his 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Bob's legacy also included many adventures through his leadership in The Boy Scouts, many a tall fishing tale shared with friends and travels across Scotland and England. His humor and kindness are well known and will be missed by many.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, April 27th from 5-8pm at the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home 87
Main St Phoenicia. His Funeral Service will be held at the Gormley Funeral Home-on Sunday, April 28th at 12 noon. The family requests that donations be made in his name to Shandaken Parks and Recreation Department.
