Sammy as we affectionately called him, was an integral part of our lives, I mean the hope J.Y . back in the 1990s. After his call to ordained ministry, I got to meet him at Abasua prayer camp at least once a year. This year in particular, he was not at the February meeting and promised to be in August. We had very spirited chats about spiritual and life issues any time we met, and he advised on prayer topics and other matters. The last chat we had was in August,2024, so i was in disbelief when I heard the news of his passing away. I am very confident that he is with the Lord but I also know that there was more he had to do in this life but for this tragic accident. He may be gone but he is not forgotten because he poured out his life to serve others. He's been of immense help to so many choirs in the sakumono area, this including the Corpus Christi Church choir . He is sorely missed, but to be absent in the body is to be present with the Lord. This is my consolation and the hope of those of us here. Sammy, continue your service of love in heaven till we meet again.đ
A man of God, a brother, a guide, whose life was a testimony of grace and truth. Your words brought peace, your prayers brought hope, and your presence lit every room with love. You lived with purpose, served with humility, and walked faithfully in the calling of Our Lord Jesus Christ. You touched hearts, lifted souls, and left behind a legacy written in eternity. Though you are no longer here with me, but your spirit walks beside me steadfast and strong. In every sermon remembered, every soul you led, your light still shines. You are deeply missed but forever remembered. Your faith, your laughter, your unwavering love still lives on in my hearts, now and always. Rest well, Rev. Samuel Tetteh Narh Soga. Your race is run. Your crown awaits.
I got to know Rev. Samuel Sogah Narh when I entered Trinity Theological Seminary, Legon in January 2021. He encouraged me, advised me on how seminary life is all about, and even gave me softcopies of his lecture notes, archived documents and ebooks because he also studied Bachelor Theology. We became close friends and always fell on him when need be for studies. Rev. Samuel Sogah Narh, your untimely death was a shock to me but in all these we give thanks to God for all that He used you for in this short time of the ordained ministry. Rest and sleep in the arms of your Maker till we meet again. I pray that God will continue to strengthen the family in times like these and provide for them because He is the Jehovah Jireh. Amen
A Tribute to Sammy. In 2009, while I was in Junior High School, I had the opportunity to join our school choir in preparation for an Art and Music exhibition within our district. At the time, Blessed Yawson was our Music Director. Somewhere along the line, a man with a calm presence and a small square pair of glasses began joining us. He introduced himself simply as Sammyâa friend of Blessedâwho had come to assist with teaching the songs. From the start, Sammy brought more than just music. His jovial spirit, warmth, and wisdom left a lasting impression on all of us. During rehearsals, he would often pause to share words of encouragement, grounded in scripture, and occasionally lead us in prayer. At the time, I couldnât understand why we were praying or reading the Bible at choir practice. We were just there to singâor so I thought. Looking back, I now see those moments as the seeds of a strong foundation that would shape my journey in music ministry. Years later, in 2020, I attended the NUPS-G UPSA Carol Service. After singing, I quickly walked out. On my way out, I passed a familiar face, but I couldnât quite place it. It wasnât until I overheard some students affectionately calling out âPapa Sammyâ that it all clicked. It was himâSammy from my JHS choir days. I later learned he was studying at Trinity Theological Seminary, preparing for ministry. Sammy, you were later posted to Kwamang, not far from Mampong where I now liveâwithin the same Presbytery. If only I had known, I would have visited your church, just to call you âRev. Sammyâ or âPapa Sammy,â and tell you how much your presence back then truly meant. You served God and the Church faithfully. You touched lives with your gentle spirit and commitment. You lived a life of purpose, and now, you join the heavenly choir, singing eternal harmonies. Rest well, Sammy. Rest in perfect peace.
We started way back from Hope, Sakumono, through Trinity. We were in the same Hall. By divine coincidence, only one week separated our birthdays. We looked alike so used to confuse people whilst on Campus. Even on the field, someone met me at Takoradi and was smiling at me, when I did not reciprocate she approached me and asked whether I do not recognize her from Prang(your former station). It was then that I knew the person was referring to you so I mentioned to the person that it was rather my â twin brother in ministryâ and she gasped at our resemblance. We were prayer partners together with Rev Benedicta and Rev Esther Atta Adjei. We shared secrets and future goals. Indeed your future was very bright. Gifted in Music, our historian and liturgy consultant. You served the PCG right from childhood till your passing. Your death is still a shock and feels like a dream. But we take consolation that you died in the Lord and that we will meet again at the Resurrection. Sleep on my brother, friend and colleague in Ministry. I pray for your wife, child, brothers, mother and sister, that God will take care of them. Stillll âŠâŠhmmm! Sleep on

Way back at Hope. Around 2016/17 I guess

Celebrating your birthday at KFC, East Legon on 3rd Oct 2020. How time fliesâŠ..Rev Kuditcha and you have joined the cloud of witnesses

Words will fail me to describe my brother. Sammy, nicknamed Global Knowledge(GK) by our classmates at Trinity, was so serviceable and calm.

Indeed this world is not our own. We are all sojourners here. Sammy served the Lord with passion. He loved music so he put all his emotions into helping choir master to teach. When he stands in front of the choir to conduct, it is a sight to behold. Sammy your work here on earth is done. I pray that as you journey on, the host of angels lead you to that blissful shore. Rest well Rev. Rest in the bosom of your maker
Papa Samuel thank you so much for everything you did for me. Always reminding me of my calling in the ministry work . Sister Adwoa God will keep you safe and healthy. I love you. Rest in Power Senior Bishop Papa Samuel
