Celebrating the Life of
July 26, 1957 — August 16, 2024
It is with tremendous sadness we announce the passing of Renee Anne O'Neil on August 16, 2024 peacefully at home in Roseville, CA at the age of 67. Renee bravely and valiantly fought a 10-year battle with stage-4 colon cancer. She maintained a positive outlook with strength, resilience and tenacity. She fought with all she had till the very end, always full of optimism. Renee was a radiant person who had a true zest and enthusiasm for life. She enjoyed every moment to the very fullest. Some say "she lived to the beat of her own drum". She was a free spirit who had a love for travel and meeting new people. She enjoyed wineries, being out in nature and especially loved spending time by the seashore, relaxing on the beach. She had a great love for family and friends. She especially loved her fur babies and even snuck one in to the hospital for a visit. She is dearly missed by her children Ryan, Kimberly (Justin), Breanna and Madison and also her 6 beloved grandchildren Jordan, Amelia, Anthony, Athen, Lucas and Logan, whom she adored.
Born Renatka in Czechoslovakia (now Czechia), growing up in Prague under the Communist regime was not an easy childhood, but her positive attitude and sense of humor made every life challenge easier. She was very athletic and adventurous learning to swim at a young age and even swimming across the Vlata river at 6 years old, to her parents shock! After she finished 5th grade in Prague, the Russians occupied Czechoslovakia and her family left the country to Austria where they stayed at an Emigration camp before finally coming to the United States, where she officially became an American Citizen. After all those years in America she still spoke the Czech language perfectly and loved her hometown. She graduated from Burlington High School where her family ultimately settled before her next adventure; getting married and moving to Florida. She eventually settled down with her children in California where she could be near both the coast and mountains.
She is proceeded in death by her beloved father Frank Dobias (July 16, 1992) and beautiful mother Vera Dobias (July 16, 2002). She is survived by her loving sister Sherry M. Wiley and her very caring ex-husband Joseph O'Neil who was by her side until the end. She even joked they got along better now then when they were married. He truly was her best friend.
A celebration of life is scheduled for 08/16/2025.
Please share a photo or video, or post a heartfelt condolence to the family.
The best mommy

The day that grandma died was the same day I broke my arm. I feel as if it was a spiritual action of the angels pulling me down. The lord pulling our family in grief. One of the hardest challenges I’ve faced was going out in public trying not to break down. She was more than a grandparent to me. She was a caretaker to most, a mother to some, and a best friend to all of us. She always cared no matter what problem she faced. She would always give a hug to all of us and whenever she saw us she always told us “wow! You’ve grown so big!” And I wish she was there to see me grow now. One time she said to me “athen you are a wonderful child, you have grown up to be so mature. You are my little advisor!” I wish I had more time with us to watch us grow and mature. I miss you grandma. I wish you were here with us.
