In Loving Memory of Regina Acosta
March 29, 1943 – December 30, 2024
Regina Acosta, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, peacefully departed this world, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and grace. Born in Denver, Colorado, on March 29, 1943, Regina was the cherished daughter of Timothy Vigil Garcia and Decideria “Dessie” Garcia. Growing up in a warm and loving household, Regina was surrounded by her six siblings, with whom she shared an unbreakable bond.
A proud alumna of Annunciation High School, Regina graduated in 1961 with distinction. Her high school years were filled with academic excellence, numerous awards, and participation in various extracurricular activities. She carried the same dedication and determination into her professional life, beginning a long and successful career in the banking industry shortly after graduation. Starting at Central Bank in Denver, Colorado, Regina rose through the ranks with hard work and perseverance, ultimately retiring from KeyBank at the remarkable age of 70. She was admired by colleagues and clients alike, leaving an indelible mark on the industry.
Regina’s heart was as big as her achievements. She was a selfless volunteer, dedicating her time to charitable organizations and community service. During the holidays, she could often be found serving food to the needy, and she worked tirelessly to raise scholarship funds to help high school students pursue their dreams to further their education. Her nurturing spirit extended to her family, where she was a constant mentor, guide, and source of wisdom for her children, sisters, and extended family.
Regina’s greatest joy was her family. She shared a beautiful life married to Eugene Acosta, her husband. Together, they raised their daughter, Dawn, and welcomed her stepson, Geno, into their hearts. She was a proud grandmother to Brianna, Felipe, Jeremiah, and Isaiah and Jon. She treasured her role as great-grandmother to six great-grandchildren. Regina is survived by her loving family, including her daughter, Dawn Rocha, and her husband, Harold Solomon; her stepson, Geno Acosta, and his wife, Robin; her grandchildren, Brianna Rocha , husband, Aaron Rael, Felipe Rocha, Jonathan Keoni Acosta, Jeremiah Solomon, Isaiah Solomon and her six adored great-grandchildren.
Regina’s siblings meant the world to her; and also survive her: Bernie Garcia (predeceased) and his wife Donna; Esther Dominguez and her husband John; Teri Johnston and her husband Rick Johnston (predeceased); Ron Garcia and his wife Lisa (predeceased); Deborah Mackall and her husband Bert Hutchins; and Cynthia Garcia and her companion Kevin Simms. As well as many nieces and nephews. Regina’s love and devotion to her family were unwavering, and she was the heart and soul of their lives.
Regina will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, generous heart, and the endless love she shared with everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of compassion, kindness, and resilience will continue to inspire those she leaves behind. While her physical presence will be deeply missed, her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
A celebration of Regina’s beautiful life will be held on Monday, February 3, 2025 at Saint Ignatius, Loyola Church in Denver, Colorado at 2:30PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charitable organization close to Regina’s heart in honor of her lifelong commitment to helping others.
Rest in peace, Regina. Your love, light, and legacy will shine forever.

I have so many loving memories of my Aunt Regina. One of my favorites is that she took me to my first concert. She took Gina, Dawn and my brother Mark and I for Dawn's birthday. We had so much fun!

Regina gave everything in life, and in doing so, she gifted us all an abundance of happiness. As sisters and brothers, we grew together, sharing meals, filled with laughter, traveling to exciting places, and delighting in endless shopping trips! We soaked in music and the arts together, cherishing every moment, every note, every brush stroke. In Regina‘s eyes, everything she did, saw or experienced was the best it had ever been-because she had the rare gift of making the ordinary extraordinary. She taught us how to truly live, how to savor, each fleeting moment, and how to appreciate the beauty in everything. Our love for her is boundless, and though she will be profoundly missed, her light will continue to shine in our hearts forever.
