Celebrating the Life of
July 24, 1953 — December 12, 2022
Rebecca Ann Draper, 69 years old, returned to her Heavenly Father on December 12, 2022. She was a
loving wife, mother and grandmother. Becky had a strong faith and love of God. Her family will miss her
tremendously as we also rejoice she is with the Lord.
Becky was born July 24, 1953 to Gerald and Gertrude LaFleur in Whitinsville Massachusetts. Becky
graduated high school from South High in Worcester MA in 1971 and enlisted in the Air Force a few
years later. Airmen LaFleur worked delivering aircraft parts to the flight line on George Air Force Base in
Victorville California. There she met her husband of forty-two years, Brad.
Married in 1980, Becky and Brad earned Bachelor’s degrees in nursing at Fresno State University.
Becky’s nursing experience varied; from post-operative care to Intensive Care Unit, until Becky
discovered her love as a school nurse. She obtained a Master’s Degree in Nursing at San Diego State
University and finished her career with the San Diego Unified School District. Jokingly Becky reminded
Brad that her Master’s degree bested his Bachelor’s. Brad acknowledged this when family members
called for medical advice – he gladly handed Becky the telephone as her advice was reliably correct.
Becky is survived by her husband Brad Draper, sons Kent and Brett, daughter-in-law Wendy Draper,
grandson Noah, and granddaughter Rose. Predeceased are her parents, Gerry and Trudy, and her
brother Kurt. Also surviving is Kurt’s widow Lilly LaFleur in Alaska and brothers Steve, Eric and Kerry
residing in Massachusetts. Becky has a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved greatly. Family visits
have left us fond memories of Aunt Becky, most of which can only be told with boisterous laughter.
Becky retired five years ago and enjoyed spending time with family, exercising at the gym, and
volunteering. She volunteered at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, the Rancho Bernardo Historical Society,
Incarnation Lutheran Church in Poway, and the Pacifica Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church. She
also enjoyed cooking large family meals. Becky’s spaghetti sauce was legendary, every Sunday she
cooked twice as much as needed as the many friends of Kent and Brett would drop by to dip bread.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for 2 PM on January 8, 2023 at Incarnation Lutheran Church: 16889
Espola Rd, Poway, CA 92064. In lieu of flowers please donate to Rebecca’s Memorial Fund at
Incarnation Lutheran Church.

The Drapers were so much like family my wife and I couldn't imagine them not being at our wedding. Brett not in this pic since he was sitting next to me as my best man.

Cameron loved hanging out with Becky and Brad and they got a kick out of each other

Becky loved kids and treated my family and I like we were part of the family

Thank you for the gift of your friendship💜💜 I will miss you😥

Rose, or Rosita, is 14 months. After two sons and a grandson Beck was thrilled to have a girl to pamper. It saddens me that they won't go shopping.

Noah and "grandmas." Noah just turned two and Beck....

Becky was such a great mother and grandmother. Rose and Noah (now 4 and 6) loved their grandmother and were concerned and upset as Becky's illness progressed, but they helped care for her as children can.

Becky and I in Kauai 2013. Kayaking, snorkeling, swimming with sea turtles, eating fish every meal except breakfast. Exceptional trip! Exceptional wife ❤️

Brad and family, Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. May God give you comfort and peace.
Brad, I am so sorry to hear about Becky. She was such a wonderful person and I always enjoyed the chance to spend time with both of you! Praying for peace for you and the rest of the family. Michelle
