Celebrating the Life of
July 15, 1956 — June 14, 2024
Loving mother, Phyllis Gebhardt, passed away on June 14th. Phyllis was 67 and was surrounded by her family. Phyllis, was born July 15, 1956 in Long Beach, California. After moving to Texas, Phyllis attended Texas Woman’s University. While in school, Phyllis realized her passion for teaching. In 1977, she graduated with her Bachelor in Science of Teaching, being one of the youngest graduates from Texas Woman’s University at the time. After graduation, Phyllis went on to become a teacher. She was passionate about teaching and serving children. In 1988, she acquired her Master of Education and her license professional counselor certification from The University of North Texas. As a loyal servant to God, Phyllis spent many of her hours dedicating her life to counseling children and family. She spent 43 years as an elementary counselor in Arlington ISD. Many of those years Phyllis served as a lead counselor over several schools. Working tirelessly within the community to best support her school and students. Even after retiring in 2020, she spent her remaining years as a guest teacher for Aledo ISD- where her grandchildren attend school. We at peace knowing she is with the Lord. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters Emilee and Claire; son in-law Bailey; grandchildren Levi and Paislee; sister Kathy; niece's Pamela and Kimberly; great niece’s Brooke and Elizabeth; granddog Elvis

Phyllis was such a giving and loving lady. She fought so hard. She loved her girls Claire and Emilee and was very proud of Levi and Paislee her grandkids. Heaven gained such a wonderful soul. We hurt here for her lose but knowing she is in no pain, such a comfort. I will miss your texts.

My precious Aunt Phyllis, What a privilege it has been having you for my aunt. I am thankful for all the special times and sweet memories that we shared over the years and will treasure them always. It is an honor to celebrate your life and remember you for the love, joy, kindness, and enduring spirit you so generously shared with each of us. Our hearts are broken-until we meet again, All my love, Pam
Heaven has a new angel. But for all of us that knew Phyllis, we were lucky enough to witness that angel here on earth. Phyllis was the sweetest person and had the largest heart. She was so kind and so patient with everyone she knew. And oh, how she loved her two girls, Emilee and Claire. She was so proud to be your Mom and her love will be with you always. My prayers to Phyllis’ family - I know she will be greatly missed.
Whenever one of my students needed counseling, clothes, or supplies, I always went to ask Phyllis. She had all the answers and even though she was constantly busy, she listened and never turned anyone away. I really appreciated her help and advice. We were so fortunate to have her as our counselor at Short Elementary.
What a kind and gentle person Phyllis was! Her desire to help children was so valuable. Even though she had to spend too much time on testing, she always found time when you needed her. Phyllis will be missed. I am praying that our Lord Jesus will wrap his comforting arms around her family and give them peace.

A very special angel is now at the side of our Lord. In God’s arms may you gently rest. Your life was a blessing and I will cherish all the sweet memories we shared. I will miss your beautiful smile, your gentle and compassionate ways, and most of all your sweet and kind heart. Your love will always be my guide and you will live forever in my heart. Rest in Christ’s Love until we meet again.
Phyllis was a beacon of light and calming grace for the students and teachers at Short Elementary. She helped our students to find their confidence and self esteem. I am eternally grateful for the training, encouragement, and experience she shared as my school counseling mentor. Many prayers for peace and comfort go to her family ❤️🙏🏻
Saddened to hear of the passing of Ms. Gebhardt. I enjoyed getting to know her and daughter Claire at Annetta the past two years, and both were always very kind to me. As itinerant staff, I moved around the building all day, and always loved walking into a class and seeing Claire's mom on those days. She was so pleasant and wonderful to work with, and I really enjoyed our chats, especially over lunch a few times. Such a great career in service to kids, teachers and schools. I'm so sorry for your family's loss. Condolences and prayers, and wishing you all peace and strength in your grief.
Phyllis was a wonderful friend and colleague. She did everything she could to help our kiddos at Short Elementary. She worked beautifully with the teachers and listened to all our concerns. Phyllis had such a sweet demeanor all the time that she was able to reduce frustrations and anxiety for anyone with whom she came in contact. She will be missed❣️
Phyllis was gifted with a true servant’s heart. She was so kind, compassionate, understanding, and anxious to meet the needs of others. Her calming, composed presence brought positive assurance to students, faculty, parents, and administrators. Enjoy your eternal life, our dear friend.
Phyllis and I spent many hours sharing ideas of how to help the kindergarten students at Short. Once we found a need, she was consistently seeking ways to help. The children loved her Kelso the frog stories about problem solving situations. We laughed many times about their solutions. She always put the child first. I am glad I had the opportunity to know her and work closely with her for 25+ years. My condolences to her family. Always remember her smiling.
Phyllis had such a calm, reassuring personality, which was perfect for talking to young children at our school, Short Elementary. She loved to read inspirational books to my class during their Counseling time, and they all loved her! She made an impact on our whole school. God blessed us through Phyllis and her gifts!

My Aunt Phyllis was the sweetest soul with amazing strength and determination. She truly had a servant’s heart and was such a blessing to us. Our family will miss her dearly until we meet again. With heavy hearts we celebrate her joining the angels in her new heavenly home.
My heart breaks for you and Claire. She was such a wonderful woman and I always enjoyed our conversations. She was so easy to talk to. She loved being at the kids events and with you and Claire. She will leave a big hole in our hearts. I hate that I will not get to participate in her celebration of life because she deserves to be celebrated.
Much love and prayers to the family of this beautiful, smart, and compassionate woman. So many memories of our time together helping our many first graders at Short ES. She will be missed.
