Philena Farmer

Philena Joyce Farmer, age 67, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 12, 2025. Philena was born on March 18, 1958, in Lamesa, Texas, to Errol Lee and Barbara Farmer. She was a graduate of Borden County High School in 1976 and furthered her education by earning a degree in Accounting from Texas Tech University. Later in life, she returned to school and earned her PhD in Mathematics at the age of 58. She enjoyed teaching, and taught in a way that made it easy to understand. (Even her brother, Matt understood what she was teaching, and that is saying a lot.) She also loved watching the Lady Raiders, spending time with her “YaYa” friend group and everything that is the color blue. Philena was joyful, ornery, witty, and so much more.
She is survived by her mother, Barbara Farmer; her three children: daughter Faith Conway and her husband, Andrew Conway; daughter Randi Harris and her husband, Kendall Harris; and son J. Ryan Gicklhorn and his wife, Meagan. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren: granddaughter Alice Oliver, who is expecting her first great-child, and her husband, Auston Oliver; granddaughter Morghan Edwards and her husband, Trey Edwards; granddaughter Jess Eicke; and grandsons Kasen Oaks, Tanner Gicklhorn, Gunner Gicklhorn, and Ryder Gicklhorn. She is also survived by her brother, Matt Farmer, and his wife, Dianne, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Errol Lee Farmer, and her brother, Frank Farmer.
The family of Philena wishes to extend their sincere thanks to all the family and friends who have reached out and provided the love and support needed during this time.
A celebration of life service for Philena Farmer will be held on Monday, December 15, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Gail, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Borden County EMS.
