Celebrating the Life of
December 22, 1954 — December 6, 2023
Peter Donald Beaudry, aka Pistol Pete (from down the street) or Sun E Luv (Sunny), 68, of Munising, MI passed away peacefully at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey, MI on December 6th, 2023. Pete was born in Livonia, MI on December 22, 1954 to Donald (Big Pete) and Donna (Hoosier) Beaudry. He graduated in 1973 from Franklin High School in Livonia. Pete spent a lot of his adult life in his beloved Yoop, both in Marquette and Munising, where he helped his parents run the family fruit market. He also worked for Cleveland Cliffs Timber Products in Munising for ten years before going to school to get his CDL license and becoming an OTR trucker. Pete loved driving his big rigs and exploring this beautiful country, he especially loved New Mexico and often talked of moving there.
When he wasn’t on the road, he loved being in the outdoors, especially fishing and camping and spending time with his family and friends. As much as Pete loved the U.P., he was a Detroit native through and through. He loved going to concerts at Pine Knob and other venues and to see his Detroit teams play. He loved all the Detroit teams but especially the Tigers and his Detroit Lions. He was an avid sports fan & was full of facts about all sports. While he was in the hospital, extremely ill & not able to speak that well at all, he managed to tell the nurse and I how many fans fit in the Big House as we were watching Michigan play, and he was absolutely right!
Pete could be blunt and a little rough around the edges but he loved his people with all his heart and will be greatly missed by so many. He is survived by his mother, Donna Beaudry of Munising, MI, his daughter, Pamela Miller of Newport, KY, his beloved grandchildren, Kyle (Grace Vachon) Miller, Alyssa Miller and Connor Miller. Special brother and sister in law, Greg and Cheryl Reynolds, special cousins, Pat Beaudry and Nancy Dixon, his best friend, Bill Bedford and many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Big Pete, his younger brother, John, his grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles.
Cremation has taken place, per his wishes and a celebration of Pete’s life will be held Saturday, August 10th 1pm-3pm at the Lions Field, 2183 Cherry St in Marquette, MI, where Pete used to coach and play softball. Please stop by and share some memories.
