Celebrating the Life of
February 25, 1956 — November 1, 2025
There are some people who can’t help but take life apart just to see how it works.
Who treat the world like something to be studied, tasted, debated, and occasionally disagreed with—just because.
That was Paul James McQueen.
After 46 years side by side, Paul leaves behind his wife and partner in life Jane, who shared in his love of country living, travel and music.
He was the proud Dad of Tasha (and her partner, Cole) and Tarley (and her partner, Lucius), and the endlessly adored Pop Pop of Frankie, Ronan, and Sully.
Paul loved dragons, guitars, good food, and feeding people in every sense of the word. He was patient with things that took time: gardens, ideas, and people. He questioned everything, not to argue, but to understand.
A little stubborn, deeply curious, and quietly full of wonder, Paul lived life his own way, finding beauty in the small, overlooked corners of the world and passing that gift on to all of us.

I met Paul for the first time when I was in Undergrad and went to a house party at one of Tasha and Cole’s student houses. I remember being so blown away that this cool parent/grown up was partying with us while also making me feel like I was being brought into the fold. As a student who didn’t see her own parents much at the time, it felt wonderful. Over the years since then, I’ve loved seeing Paul become the most awesome grandparent. He will be so missed, by family and all those he made feel like part of the family. All my love to Tasha, Jane, Tarley, and the kids 💚
Heartfelt condolences, Jane, to you and your family. Liz and Kim
Paul, You and Jane have always made me feel like part of the family, just as you’ve done for so many others over the years. Your approach to life was always refreshing, curious, and deeply genuine - some of my most favourite things about you. Thank you for being you, and for raising such amazing people who carry your light forward. You will be deeply missed and always remembered. With love - the Jamro’s

Jane, Tarley, Tasha, Cole, Frankie, Ronan, and Sully—my heart is aching for all of you. My impression of Paul was a generous host, a creative soul and most importantly, a doting father and grandfather. Thinking of you all as you will be missing your sweet Pop-pop.

I was on my lunch break at work when I read the news, and I was completely shocked, stunned, and heartbroken. I can’t believe he’s gone. My heart aches for you Tasha, and family. I’ll never forget the first time I met him at the summer party. He was so excited to show me his dragon collection because he thought I might appreciate it since I’m Asian, lol. He asked me what kinds of dragons I knew from my country, and I had to laugh and tell him that I actually didn’t know any growing up. He just smiled so kindly, that’s how I’ll always remember him: warm, curious, and full of life.
Well then. Now he understands Bell's Theorem and I am still struggling. Lots of thoughts. Few words. Love to you all. Jane
My sincere condolences to Jane and the whole family. Paul was a good man, taken from us too soon. May he rest in peace. John Johnston.
