On Sunday, May 26, 2024, Patricia O’Hara passed on to her eternal rest. Pat, as she was known to the many who loved her, was 84 years old. She is survived by her children, Dennis O’Hara, Daniel O’Hara, Courtney Luke, son-in-law, Kevin Luke, as well as her two grandchildren, Noah and Cassidy Luke. She is preceded in death by both her husbands, her parents, Florence and George Russell, and her younger sister and best friend, Mary Russell.
Pat was a fiercely strong, independent woman who grew up in Gardena enjoying the quaint downtown storefronts and skating rink. She enjoyed ballroom dance, being courted by many eligible bachelors in her youth, and had a passion for gardening, especially roses. She enjoyed cards with friends and loved entertaining large groups, capturing the title, “Hostess with the Mostess.” A graduate of Gardena High School, Pat worked for Pacific Bell and later established her own legal processing service working throughout the South Bay area with many local attorneys. She later returned to AT&T where she retired. Pat was a tenacious mother who sacrificed much to offer her children life’s every opportunity. However, her greatest role in life was that of grandmother or “Maimeo” (Irish for Grandmother) to her two grandchildren.
