Obituary of Rev. Mrs. Patricia Ajokpa-Oghene Eruteya (1956 – 2026)
Rev. Mrs. Patricia Ajokpa-Oghene Eruteya gracefully slept in the Lord on 20th February 2026 at the age of 69.
She was born on July 11, 1956, to Mr. and Mrs. Owharo. From an early age, she developed a deep love for God and a passion for worship. She had a special affection for hymns and gospel songs, both in English and in her local Isoko dialect, and particularly cherished songs from ministers such as Emma Ofano and Evangelist Amos Ighaka.
In her younger years, she served faithfully in the church choir, dedicating herself to the service of God. Throughout her ministry life, she was also committed to the cleanliness and upkeep of the house of God and served at different times as a Sunday School teacher, where she passionately taught the Word of God. Her desire was not only for people to hear the message but to understand it and live by it.
Rev. Mrs. Patricia Eruteya was also a hardworking and resourceful woman. While she ventured into several business activities, her primary career was in education. She began her teaching career in Benin City, Edo State, and later served in Oyo State as a primary school teacher, dedicating many years to shaping young minds until her retirement in 2016.
She was a lover of people, known for her warm and generous spirit. She always went out of her way to ensure that those around her were comfortable and cared for, even when she herself was tired. She possessed a beautiful soul, full of kindness, compassion, and sincerity.
Above all, she was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Rev. Edward O. Eruteya, whom she loved dearly. She faithfully supported him throughout his ministry journey and fully embraced the vision God entrusted into his hands—to raise men unto the Lord for Kingdom advancement through evangelism, gospel tracts, and Christian publications that point souls to Christ.
While there is much more that could be said about her remarkable life, we take comfort in the legacy she leaves behind. She is survived by her loving husband, one daughter, two sons, and six grandchildren, a sister and brother, all of whom cherished and loved her deeply.
To her children, she was more than a mother—she was a prayer warrior, counselor, friend, and confidant. She constantly prayed for her family, offering wisdom, encouragement, and spiritual guidance to her children, their spouses, and her grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
As her son, I will forever cherish my Sweet Mother, my closest friend and gist partner. Her love, prayers, and counsel will remain with me always until that glorious day when we meet again in the presence of the Lord.
Sleep well, my beloved mother.
