Celebrating the Life of
August 26, 2007 — August 21, 2023
Oscyr Ames, 15, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away on 8/21/2023 after a courageous battle with childhood cancer at home, surrounded by love.
Oscyr was born on 26/8/2007. Despite facing the challenges of illness from an early age, Oscyr embraced life with an inspiring spirit that touched the hearts of everyone who knew him.
In his brief time with us, Oscyr faced the trials of childhood cancer with unwavering strength and resilience. His bravery and determination were a beacon of light, offering hope and inspiration to those around him. Oscyr's positive attitude and infectious smile brought joy to the lives of friends, family, and caregivers alike.
Beyond his battle, Oscyr was a star athlete. He cherished basketball and football, both in person and in videogames and found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved to watch the NBA and NFL. He would often tell people about how he would be the first to play for the NFL, NBA, MLB and FIFA in one lifetime. We know he's playing on heaven's league now. His passion for sports inspired his fellow students, pushing them from championship to championship. It is often heard around the halls now when someone is too tired for practice, or down in the dumps following a loss, that they should "Be more like Bee". His determination also inspired many professional athletes, such as Nick Bosa, Tank Bigsby, DeMar DeRozan and Derrick Rose to name a few, who came to his side when he needed it most. He will be remembered as the legend he is.
Oscyr was a funny young man. He was bold in his actions and chaotic in nature. Oscyr's friends and family will fondly remember the countless times he brought smiles and laughter into their lives. His unique ability to find humor in any situation and his fearlessness in expressing himself made him a one-of-a-kind individual.
Osycr had a heart of gold. He loved his friends more than anything else in this world. He would stay up all night texting, and go out with the neighbourhood kids all day. He found friendships in classrooms, clubs, hospice teams and oncology wards. He always ran some sort of crew, no matter where he was. His friends also included his animals, Dogs, Moose, Rein and Bear, Cat, Luna, and rabbits, Giannis and Barracuda. His best friend by far was his big brother, who now has a best friend in his heart always. His family wants to thank the young men and women who surrounded Oscyr during his battles, and those who surrounded him with love on his very last day on earth.
His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Little Wish Organisation in Oscyr's honor. Your support will contribute to ongoing support for children and families affected by childhood cancer.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the medical professionals, caregivers, and all those who supported Oscyr and his family throughout his courageous journey.
Oscyr Ames will be dearly missed, but his legacy of courage, strength, and love will endure in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

We miss you a whole lot, buddy. Grateful for every single moment we shared with you.

Shortly after this, Oscyr went home to Jesus. On his final day, he was hurting. Cancer was attacking him. He was surrounded by his family, friends and animals. He even got some McDonalds. There is no perfect last day with cancer, but his final weeks were good enough for him. Osycr loved life, we hope he loves heaven just as much.

15 years old. Cancer had ravaged his body and taken everything from him. Ozzy knew moping around would get him nowhere. He saw his time in hospice, as his weeks without being tied down by cancer. He ignored every tumor and he relearned how to walk, jump, run and be a kid. Legend.

Only 14 years old, tackling cancer again. He wanted to go to the beach, that's all.

Destined for greatness.

With his team, his people.

Cancer should have known by now it had picked the wrong kid!

6 years old, always up to something.

Oscyr met his best friends on an oncology waiting room floor.

Almost 1 year old Oscyr, unstoppable courage.
