Celebrating the Life of
October 28, 1951 — October 31, 2024
Mrs. Nancy L. Wilson-Pierri, 73, of Palatine, IL passed away on October 31, 2024 after a courageous four month battle with AML.
She is survived by her husband Joseph Pierri, her daughter Robin Wilson, her sisters Lois P. Jones and Debra R. Levasseur-Lottman, her nephew Richard Levasseur and her brother-in-law, Robert Lottman. Her beloved older brother Gary Wilson passed away in January of 2021.
After Nancy attended high school at Gilmary School for Girls in Coraopolis, PA, she went on to study at Bryman's College, earning a medical certification and made her career as a phlebotomist, eventually managing a diagnostic laboratory for many years.
Nancy was an avid music lover and a Beatles scholar, regularly attending conventions as well as amassing a substantial library of albums, films, documentaries, books, collectibles and other Beatle memorabilia. Nancy was a hero on many fronts and a caregiver to those in need. From an early age, she was fierce, loving and protective of others. She had that rare gift of compassionate listening along with a sensitivity and empathy that made her a beloved family member and friend. This level of care extended to her patients whose ages ran from newborn to the elderly.
Of all she accomplished in life, she was most proud of her beautiful daughter Robin Wilson whom she not only loved with all her heart, but greatly admired for her many talents and accomplishments. As a young mother, she often worked two jobs, running the Quest Diagnostics Laboratory during the day and working as a phelobotomist at various hospitals during the evening. She had an incredible work ethic and even after her days at Quest, she continued on as a caregiver into her 70's. She loved helping others and bringing meaning and purpose to her days. Nancy was fiercely loyal and would support those she loved, always ready for a laugh (she had a fabulous sense of humor), to cry, to defend her loved ones from harm but she was also the voice of reason and would help you to see a situation from another point of view. She maintained many life-long friendships, including her best friend, Lynn Schmidt whom she met at the age of 12.
Nancy was interested in the world around her and stayed open to the possilities of change, taking courses to increase her awareness of herself and others. She wrote the occasional beautiful poem and had a natural lyric gift. She maintained a deep appreciation for the poetry, dance and art of others.
Nancy found love late in life with her husband Joe Pierri. They spent the last six years, traveling, dining, visiting friends and family, attending cinema and watching their favourite programs like Press Your Luck. They laughed, they loved and enjoyed a deep and treasured connection up until her final days.
