Nancy Swann, a beloved wife, mother, Grandmother and friend. She passed away peacefully on September 4, 2024, at the age of 77. Born on January 14, 1947, in Washington, D.C., Nancy led a life distinguished by her dedication to her family and her commitment to her community.
Nancy graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in education and spent over three decades as an elementary school teacher. Her passion for teaching and nurturing young minds left an indelible mark on her students, many of whom fondly remember her as a mentor and inspiration.
Nancy was married to her high school sweetheart, Ronnie Smith, for 52 years. Together, they raised two children, Ray and Mary, and welcomed 9 grandchildren who were the light of her life. Her family was her greatest joy, and she was known for her unwavering support, infectious laughter, and loving presence.
Outside of her professional and family life, Nancy was an active volunteer. She devoted her time to various local charities and was an enthusiastic supporter of educational initiatives in her community. Her contributions were a testament to her belief in the power of giving and making a positive impact.
A memorial service to honor Nancys life will be held on September 9, 2024, at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Church in Washington, D.C.
