April 21, 1929 — December 19, 2024
Nancy Lou Ketchum Gray 95, entered eternal rest on the 19th of December 2024 at her home in Seminole, Florida. Born on April 21, 1929, Nancy dedicated much of her life to the field of healthcare. She worked at Mercy-Magee Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania before embarking on a rewarding 25- year career as a school nurse in Bethel Park, PA.
Nancy was a graduate of McKeesport High School and continued her education and training at the Presbyterian School of Nursing in Pittsburgh with her RN certification in 1950. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at California State College, PA. Her commitment to nurturing and caring for others extended beyond her professional life into her personal life.
She was actively involved in her community and was a member of the Bethel Presbyterian Church of Bethel Park PA and Lake Seminole Presbyterian Church of Seminole FL, where she participated in various activities. Gardening was one of Nancy’s passions. Always planting and organizing flowers in her yard or arrangements for her home. The lure of travel was close to her heart. Starting with Mexico and the Bahamas with her teacher friends in the 1970’s. Continuing for many years with her husband Tom on cruises to Hawaii, Alaska, Panama Canal, Costa Rica and various Caribbean destinations. Nancy also enjoyed being part of the Red Hat Society in FL, engaging in the organization’s social events and community service activities. She was a volunteer for several committees at her residence, Lake Seminole Square. She enjoyed attending concerts by The Florida Orchestra which she had a long term subscription to.
Nancy was a passionate sports fan. Her love for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins began with a trip to Forbes Field with her father Francis at the age of 11 years old.
Nancy was preceded in death by her ex-husband and father of her two children, Wayne Mansfield of West Mifflin, PA and husband Thomas Gray of Bethel Park, PA. She is survived by her loving family; son Jeffrey Mansfield of Scottsdale, AZ; daughter Jennifer Klee of St. Petersburg, FL; granddaughters Megan Manning of Glendale, AZ and Madeleine Klee of Ybor City, FL. Nephews Frank (Cathy) Leader of Fayetteville NC and Ben Leader of Maui HI.
Nancy’s life was marked by her compassion, dedication, and the profound impact she had on her family, friends, and the many students she cared for over the years.
Her legacy of kindness and service will continue to be remembered by all who knew her.
