Celebrating the Life of
May 2, 1964 — January 13, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Lory Gurksnis. She passed away at her residence in Apopka, FL, in the early morning of January 13, 2025, peacefully in her sleep. Born on May 2, 1964 in Jeannette, PA, Lory lived a life filled with love, kindness, and generosity. Her memory will forever live in the hearts of those she loved and those who loved her.
Lory was a core fixture in her family. She was the beloved wife of Thomas Gurksnis, the cherished mother of Breyanna Gurksnis and Fiancé Danlex, and the adored grandmother of Danlex Briceno Jr. She also had a granddaughter on the way, Catalina Ann Briceno. She is also survived by her sisters Christine Streussnig and husband Michael, Sherene Morris and husband Keith, and Cindy Gray and Fiancé Craig, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Lory was predeceased by her father, Arthur Pierce Jr., and her mother, Shirley Gunther Pierce. Her family was her world. She will be greatly missed by all of them.
One of her favorite activities included spending quality time with her family. The bonds she formed with them were not only strong, but enduring. Lory also loved the beach, one of her favorite vacation spots. The serene ambiance of the beach offered her a special kind of satisfaction and happiness that was evident each time she was there. It was her little haven of relaxation and meditation.
Remembered for her loving, caring, and generous personality, Lory touched many lives. Her selflessness was one thing that stood out in her interaction with people. Her generosity extended beyond her immediate family and could be felt by everyone around her. As we mourn the loss of Lory, we also celebrate a life. Her legacy continues in the hearts of those she left behind. Her spirit will forever be with us, shaping our lives and guiding our paths.
Due to current circumstances within the family, we are sad to inform you that a funeral will not be held. We will be arranging a burial of the ashes and small memorial service in Pennsylvania at a later time. Specific details are to be determined.
