Celebrating the Life of
June 23, 1947 — July 5, 2024
Linda J Fay, lovingly known as "Linny", passed away peacefully on July 5, 2024, in Woodstock, Illinois, at the age of 77. She was born on June 23, 1947, in Woodstock, Illinois, to the late Roger and Beatrice Meyer.
Throughout her life, Linda was known for her caring and giving nature. Linda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was know for calling to catch up and to make sure everyone was alright. "She had a heart of gold" as her siblings would say. Most of all she cherished spending quality time with others and had a talent for finding the perfect gift for those she loved.
She had a love for watching the Hallmark Chanel and reading Debbie Macomber novels, as well as, an amazing talent and passion for sewing. She spent many hours creating beautiful pieces for her family.
Linda had a deep appreciation for delicious meals, especially shared with family. Garlic shrimp fettuccine and anything chocolate being some of her favorites. She was known and could be counted on for bringing potato salad and creamed corn to family gatherings.
Country music filled her heart, and she was also a devoted Green Bay Packers fan and took great pleasure in watching Aaron Rodgers play on the field. (at the discontent to the rest of her family, who are Bears fans.)
Professionally, Linda worked as a Title Officer/Manager for Northern Land Title and also served as a Legal Secretary for Thomas Schmitt in Marengo.
On October 25, 1969, Linda married her high school sweetheart Larry Fay, after he returned from the Navy while serving during the Vietnam war. They shared a deep bond and created beautiful memories together taking day trips to Lake Geneva and Clinton, Wisconsin.
Family was of utmost importance to Linda, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She spent countless hours watching her grandkids play sports, perform concerts, and was able to enjoy two family trips to Disney World with them. She was over joyed this past October to gain another granddaughter when her eldest grandson got married. As was her loving nature she used her talents to jump in to help, by doing the floral arrangements.
She took great pride in being a supportive and loving mother to her daughter, Laurie (Brian) Smith. Linda adored her grandchildren, Sidney (Briana) Smith, Tristan Smith, Brendan Smith, and Kaylee Smith, and they brought immense joy to her life.
Linda will be remembered for her loving and giving nature, her passion for family, and her unwavering dedication to her grandchildren. Her favorite saying, "Love you all," truly exemplifies the love she had for those around her.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Fay; her daughter, Laurie (Brian) Smith; her siblings, Carol Larsen, David (Linda Rizzo) Meyer, and Judy (Ron) Habbley; and her cherished grandchildren.
Linda J Fay will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Please share a photo or video, or post a heartfelt condolence to the family.

She Is Gone (He Is Gone) You can shed tears that she is gone Or you can smile because she has lived You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back Or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her Or you can be full of the love that you shared You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday You can remember her and only that she is gone Or you can cherish her memory and let it live on You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back Or you can do what she would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
