Celebrating the Life of
October 18, 1953 — May 2, 2024
Leslie Fields passed away on May 2, 2024 in hospice care at Christiana Hospital in Wilmington, DE. She was 70 years old.
Born on Oct. 18, 1953 in York, PA to Harry and Lucille Fields, she spent her childhood in York, PA attending York Country Day School before going off to college, first in Boston, and then law school in New Orleans.
Leslie lived most of her adult life in Lemoyne, PA. She graduated from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law and loved the New Orleans lifestyle, returning often. The next 40 years were spent as a practicing personal injury lawyer with the firm of Costopoulos, Foster, & Fields in Lemoyne. Leslie was skilled, brilliant, respected by the legal community, and loved the law. In her work as an attorney, she was an effective, zealous advocate for her clients and a fierce opponent in litigation. She was proud of the many civil rights cases she shepherded through the legal system and was a tireless advocate for many underprivileged clients who, without her, would have had no chance of finding justice for the violation of their civil rights. She was a champion for the downtrodden, a compassionate advocate, and friend to many. In her personal life, Leslie was a warm and giving friend, always generous with her time and support. She loved her family and was always concerned for their happiness. Through times of joy and times of sadness, she was there for the many people who loved her in return. Leslie was an animal lover too, with cats running around at home. She spent many years visiting and riding her horse “Nifty Bee Bop” and bringing treats for all the four-legged residents at the barn. She was witty, open-minded, accepting of others, and intellectually curious, and could be known to bring her zealous advocacy skills to bear not just in the courtroom but on personal matters too!
Leslie is survived by one sister, Marian Broderick, and her husband, Wayne Broderick of Neenah, Wisconsin, nephew Aaron Broderick of Estero, Florida, nephew Jordan Broderick of Neenah, WI, and niece Adrian Broderick of Wilmington, DE. Her beloved cat, Carlo, now has a home with Adrian in Wilmington, DE, where he is happy and well-loved.
From her nephew Aaron: "I always appreciated and valued Aunt Leslie’s unique style, perspectives, and wisdom. She helped shape the way we saw possibilities for our lives because of her diverse expertise and interests such as her profession where she was a true force to be reckoned with, her travels (I remember while many traveled to common destinations, she visited the jungles of Borneo - and shared her stories upon return, which of course included leeches), her love of horseback riding, and so on. While this may sound trivial, to a young person, it was very inspiring to see someone we love carve a unique path for themselves. Aunt Leslie was always there for us, especially when we were young, when it’s most important, and would always help in any way we needed. She was a role model for us growing up with her expertise and success in her work, and helped inspire all of us to seek to be forces in our chosen fields as well. We were all very fortunate to have Aunt Leslie in our lives and we will miss her greatly."
From her niece Adrian: "As I reflect on her life and who she was to me, I am grateful for so many wonderful memories and experiences we had together. She could always be counted on for advice when I needed it (whether it was career, fashion, cooking, relationships, you name it), was always up for a project, and always had a new (and sometimes weird!) idea ready on whatever the issue of the moment was. I love her and will miss her dearly."
From her nephew Jordan: "I am deeply grateful for the countless cherished memories I shared with my Aunt, each one safely tucked away in the recesses of my mind.
Many of these precious moments were created at my Grandmother Lucy's home in Niantic, CT. There, my Aunt's creativity flourished as she led us in crafting everything from elaborate beach forts—a raft made of timber much like the one illustrated in the book 'The Adventures of Tom Sawyer'—to intricate mosaic table tops. Needless to say, no matter what we were doing, we had boatloads of fun together!
My Aunt's legacy is not just the joy she brought into our lives, but also her boundless love, generosity, and unwavering support. Though she may no longer be with us in body, her spirit will forever guide and inspire us, urging us to embrace each day to the fullest."
A very, very sincere 'Thank You' to all of my sister's many dear friends who contributed their thoughts and stories that greatly helped in writing her obituary.

I will always miss Leslie. Kind, caring, funny— beautiful, too. Many meals, talks and adventures shared with her are etched permanently in my memory.
I am grateful to have known Leslie and honored to call her my friend. I could count on her to greet me with her wide, warm, and contagious smile as if I was exactly who she was waiting to see at that moment. She was confident and unwavering in her thoughts and opinions, an amazingly perceptive and easy listener, and a voice for the voiceless. I always enjoyed our conversations and never tired of her stories. She is missed and will be fondly remembered. I’m glad to know her cat, Carlo, is in a safe and loving home! Heartfelt condolences to her family and many friends.

This is a beautiful tribute to a sweet lady. I had the privilege of living next door to Leslie for the past 10 years. She was the first to leave a baby gift on my porch when our son was born and always stopped by with treats for my kids. I always enjoyed the moments that we would catch up in the yard. She will be missed. Sending our love to you all.
