Celebrating the Life of
February 8, 1942 — April 18, 2026
We gather with love, gratitude, and solemn remembrance to honor the life of SENIOR CHIEF LEONARDO CUNANAN "DING" BAYRAN, a devoted husband, cherished father, brother, uncle, godfather, grandfather, proud son of the Philippines, and honorable veteran of the United States Navy.
Senior Chief Bayran answered the call to serve his adopted nation in 1968 with courage and dedication. Rising
through the enlisted ranks through discipline, leadership, and unwavering commitment, he faithfully served
through Desert Storm and ultimately attained the distinguished rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer (E-8).
His 26-year naval career reflected the finest values of military service - honor, courage, sacrifice, and steadfast
duty. He carried these same virtues into civilian and family life, where he remained a source of strength,
wisdom, and guidance to his family and all who knew him.
Though he endured serious health struggles in his later years, he faced them with resilience and quiet dignity.
Even in difficult times, his fighting spirit soldiered on, and the love of his family remained his greatest
motivation to persevere. We, his family, are comforted in knowing that his fight is over, he can now rest, and
his body is made whole again through our Lord in heaven.
After we celebrate and honor his life in Los Angeles, he will return home to Nueva Ecija, Philippines, the land
of his roots and the place of his final rest. There, surrounded by family, faith, and the soil of his homeland, he
shall be laid to peace with honor.
We remember not only the uniform he wore, but the life he lived: a man of duty, humility, perseverance,
unselfishness, and unconditional love.
May we honor his memory by living with the same courage and devotion he showed throughout his life.
Fair winds and following seas, Senior Chief Bayran.
Your watch is relieved.
Rest in eternal peace "Honey", "Dad", "Papa", "Kuyang", "Grandpa", "Tito", "Ninong", and forever friend.
