Celebrating the Life of
February 9, 1938 — April 3, 2026
It is with deep love and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Leo Barker; a devoted father, grandfather, husband, and man of unwavering faith who was called home on the morning of April 3rd, 2026.
Born on February 9, 1938 in Mermentau, Louisiana; Leo was raised in a close knit family in a small town. He was raised on the strong values of faith, family, and hard work that would guide him through life. He was the beloved son of Crawford and Esther who preceded him in death. He grew up with his siblings Willie, Lawrence, Leroy, Wilford, Gloria, Ethel, Nora, and Thelma; all of whom also preceded him in passing.
Leo proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, a chapter of his life that reflected his dedication, discipline, and quiet strength. After his service, he made his home in California where he built a life for himself centered around love, faith, family, and friends.
A true family man, Leo, found his greatest joy in the people he loved. He was a devoted life-long friend to Leontine whom he leaves behind and was preceded in death by his late wife Ramona Tovar and Sherrill Leslie. His legacy lives through his children Stephen, Jacqueline, Marilyn, and Immanuel; his grandchildren Kathryn, Vincent, Anthony, Cristina, Elijah, and Robyn; great grandchildren Mariah, Savanna, Lillian, Audreena, Adam Jr., Cylus, Wyatt, and Myles; and long-time friends Lupita and Inez. All of whom have brought him immense pride and happiness.
Known for his strong faith, Leo worked closely with God and the life he lived was a reflection of his beliefs. He was a source of wisdom, guidance, and quiet encouragement to those around him. Whether through his words, his actions, or simply his presence; Leo was the kind of man that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
He will be remembered for strength, his kindness, his devotion to family and friends, and the deep love he gave so freely to those around him. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy of faith and love will continue to live on in the hearts of his family for generations to come.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be remembered.
