Celebrating the Life of
September 2, 1931 — April 7, 2024
Leander Moore was born September 2, 1931, in Fountain North Carolina to the late Zeno B Moore & Jimmy Redove Jordan. Jimmy later married Thomas Morgan (Stepdad) when Leander was 9 years old. From a previous relationship Patricia and Richard (Children) were born and later he met Dorothea Roger and married. Out of that Union Ahmed, Keith, Dwayne and Monique were born. Leander was 18 years old when he relocated from Fountain North Carolina to Washington DC where he was then drafted in the US Army doing the Korean War. He was in a plane crash, which he was 1 of several survivors. After the Military he always said, “I know who my God is”. Later he started working at Old soldier home. He left there and retired from Safeway. He later was employed at the US Postal Service where he met his wife, Marguerite Peach. They married and both retired from the United States Postal Service. Leander joined First Rock Baptist Church and was a faithful member of the church as well as serving on the Deacon board, Men Ministries, Men’s choir and other Organizations and the Tribe of Benjamin. He was also an active person in the Community where he was in the President of the Woodlawn Historic Cemetery for 14 years. Leander was a Prince Hall Mason: Redemption Lodge 24 Washington DC for 50 years and was honored last year for his service. Even though Leander was retired, he faithfully worked on restoring Woodlawn Cemetery and serving his community. That was his passion. As his health declined Torren, his grandson stood by his side. Leander will help anyone who reached out to him. He will be sadly missed.
