Celebrating the Life of
August 17, 1974 — May 18, 2023
Larry James “Jamie” Ridge Jr. left this world on May 18th 2023 at 12:20pm, at the young age of 48. To those who knew him, he will most likely be remembered for his quick wit and sarcastic sense of humor. These were always at the forefront of any conversation. He was a captivating storyteller and could always be counted on for a laugh. He was also highly intelligent. If you were lucky enough to have shared a table with him during a game of Spades, then you witnessed the genius firsthand.
Calling him a “passionate sports fan” is a severe understatement, particularly when it came to the Cowboys, Stars, Rangers, Spurs, Mavericks and Sooners. He poured his full self into all sports related endeavors, including the annual family Fantasy Football league and Thanksgiving Day football game, where the prizes were coveted bragging rights. He made regular early Sunday morning calls to help his mom and sister with fantasy lineup recommendations and would begin picking Thanksgiving Day football teams weeks prior to the event. He lived to watch and compete in sports. When he was younger, Jamie was quite an athlete himself. As a young child he excelled at baseball and soccer. He was an exceptional high school swimmer, specializing in breaststroke. He also organized a number of adult softball teams, where he dominated as pitcher.
Jamie was also a devoted dog lover. His most recent “Man’s Best Friend” was Boomer. They were inseparable until Boomer’s passing earlier this year. Jamie had the love of a dog most of his life. He respected the simple loyalty and unconditional love they freely gave.
Jamie struggled with addiction in his life. Through resolute perseverance, he liberated himself from the clutch it had on his life years ago. Overcoming this personal challenge and reaching out to assist others on their journeys were a source of pride for him. We, his family, acknowledge that overcoming addiction is an arduous feat and we hope he knows how proud we are of his success.
Jamie – Larry, Friend, Nephew, Uncle, Brother, Son; you are missed, loved and now finally at peace.
