Celebrating the Life of
January 7, 1958 — March 18, 2024
Karin Joy Porch died unexpectedly, yet peacefully in her sleep, in Sequim, WA on March 18th, 2024 at the age of 66. Karin was a veteran of the Marine Corp, a Pastor in the United Methodist Church, a Counselor who served on the Veteran Crisis Line, a Trauma Informed Coach who created her work called The Transformative Listener, and a beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Friend.
In the last seven years, Karin was also a traveler, taking to the road full-time in her RV "Sunny" with her two happy dogs Max and Luna. Throughout her life, Karin traveled the world and all over the US, touching many lives with her warm heart, ever-listening ear, creativity and talents, along with her passion for making this world a more caring place - one person at a time.
She had these words to say that capture a bit of her vision:
"Sometimes all we can do is help one person or help one person at a time. If you look around your world you will find 1 , 2, or even 3 people that you can help, in your family, neighborhood, or even at work - if you listen to them, hearing what is going on in their lives. So that the person can heal from the experiences that are going on right now. I don’t know about you, but 7 billion people is too much for me, I prefer helping one person at a time. Look around in your life, is there one person you could listen to, with your whole being, and let them know how important they are."
If you're reading this, you likely experienced the way she let you know that you mattered and were truly important to her. She will be dearly missed.
Karin is survived by her three children, Samuel Porch, Jennilee Porch, and Makenna Parke - and in the hearts of all those she touched with her love and compassion.

Karin and I worked on The National Veterans Crisis Line together. She was a compassionate and wise counselor to the veterans in crisis who called. After we both left the VA she took off for the road and I moved to North Carolina to start Equinox Ranch, a nonprofit for combat veterans. Karin was extremely generous with her time and financial resources. On her way out west she stopped for several weeks, parked her RV at the ranch and helped in many ways. Later, we stayed in touch by phone and she would support us by locating grants and helping to write them. We will always remember Karin’s kindness and generosity. We will miss her!
I never met Karin in person. We connected on Facebook - just a couple of RVing women embracing life. Periodically, Karin would chime in, always with a message of support. When I published my book, she was the first person to honor me with a review on Amazon, even buying her son and daughter a book. That was Karin. I always felt like I had a friend in my corner. She is missed, but never forgotten.
She was an amazing human who loved the world and it showed everyday in her action. God Bless you Lt. much love as we spent many years at the VCL and had the common bond of both serving in the USMC! Always loved Never forgotten dear Angel Rest easy and your loved ones find peace in there memories
