Celebrating the Life of
On Monday, January 23, my mom, Julie Reite passed away. Luci Bennett, her sister and I, were by her side. Luci and I enjoyed a lot of time with my mom during her illness. We shared laughter, family stories, nice meals, favorite tv shows and mom's funny sense of humor. Julie had many opportunities to enjoy her niece, nephews, grand niece, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
As a young gal, Julie enjoyed many years as an entertainer with her sister, Luci in California. They played the marimba and appeared on television shows and performed around the state. Their father, Julius Christian Deckebach was their manager. Julie enjoyed time as a fashion model as well.
She later began a career as an Interior Designer. She worked primarily in Mexico and Southern California. Julie's mother, Luz Villalobos Moreno was from Guadalajara, Mexico so Julie had the opportunity to learn the language, culture and customs at an early age. These experiences translated into many design jobs where Julie could employ
her interior design talent with color, landscaping, tile work, artifacts, and linens. Julie loved to travel around Mexico
buying the best and most beautiful pieces for her clients. She was especially proud of the villa she decorated in Cabo San Lucas. Each room had her signature touch; Lush gardens, spectacular colorful furnishings, lighted pathways, and handmade pillows.
Julie enjoyed many years living in Southern California. There she had close friends, work and church which kept her busy. Julie soon decided to be closer to her family and moved to Colorado. She began working again and brightened the lives of seniors she cared for by cooking them delicious meals, offering them friendly companionship, and entertainment with her sense of humor and wit. Everyone Julie developed a relationship with felt blessed to know her.
Julie will be remembered as a generous, colorful, loving mother, sister and friend. She is no doubt entertaining those she has joined in heaven with her off the cuff humor and practical jokes. We miss you and love you very much. We look forward to seeing you again.
