In Loving Memory of Joyce Catherine Strader
Chino Valley, AZ | Age 80 |
March 23, 1945 ~ June 19, 2025
Joyce Catherine Strader, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2025—sharing the date of her 58th wedding anniversary with her devoted husband, Roger Strader. Born with a sharp wit, a kind heart, and a spirit rooted in authenticity. Joyce lived a life filled with purpose, love, and unforgettable moments. She is survived by her husband, Roger; her children, Pride, Sunny, and Roger “Jr.” (Debbie); and her treasured grandchildren: Amber, Jimmy Lee “T.J.”, Jessie-Ann, Wade, Aaron, and Joseph.
Joyce and Roger’s love story began in the most unexpected of places—a small-town bowling alley where she worked and he played. From the very first glance, they each found a reason to linger a little longer. Their connection was rare, like bowling a perfect game. Roger forever being the kingpin of her heart. Married in the summer of ’67, they spent a vibrant chapter of their lives in California before laying down some roots in Phoenix, Arizona. They made their mark for over two decades as they raised horses and children. They created memories and traditions within their family. Their personal favorite, was when they were able to spend quality time together, as they traveled north to spend their wedding anniversary enjoying the Prescott Horse Races held on the old rodeo grounds.- a tradition that perfectly captured their shared love for horses, adventure, and each other, and what ultimately helped them decide on their forever home in the nearby city of Chino Valley, Arizona.
Living in a rural area and away from all the hustle and bustle, Joyce was able to let her creative side flow and used her attention to detail on finding fun new hobbies, like her daily crossword puzzles, cross-stitching and restoration woodworking-where she excelled. No matter what she was doing or where she was going, one thing always remained evident- the love she poured into her family and the pride she took in her marriage. Known for her timeless poise and no-nonsense honesty, Joyce was a straight shooter who wore her truth with grace. If she loved you, she let you know it. If you needed strength, she gave it. And if you had something to celebrate, she was already pouring the next round.
If you knew Joyce, you already know she wouldn’t want us to dwell in sorrow—she’d want us to lift a glass, tell a story, and laugh until our stomachs hurt. In honoring her wishes, we invite you to share a memory. Maybe it was a moment she gave you advice you never forgot… a night of laughter you still replay in your mind… or maybe just a quiet moment with a drink and a real conversation. However you knew her, we know you walked away a little lighter because of it. Let’s celebrate her life together—one memory at a time
Please share a photo or video, or post a heartfelt condolence to the family.
