Celebrating the Life of
May 26, 1966 — October 3, 2024
Jonathan Matthew Putman was born on May 26, 1966, in Syracuse, NY to Clay and Deborah Putman. After his mother remarried Dalmer Lee Drake Sr., the family relocated to DeKalb, MS where he became a member of Unity Springs Missionary Baptist Church. He attended and graduated from West Kemper High School in May 1984 and then entered the U.S. Navy where he worked as a Cryptologic Technician. After his service concluded, he received a Bachelor of Science degree from Devry University and then a Master of Science degree with a concentration in Project Management from Keller Graduate School of Management and began his career in Telemedicine.
Jon was a compassionate individual who recognized the profound challenges faced by those in rural and hard-to-reach areas when it came to accessing medical care. Through his work in telemedicine, Jon was able to transform lives, ensuring that people received timely and expert care, regardless of their location. His most noted contribution was in helping to rebuild and develop innovative healthcare solutions for those in Haiti following a devastating earthquake that claimed many lives and displaced others as well as his medical contributions in Africa and India.
Jon leaves to cherish his memory, his mother Deborah Cooper Drake of DeKalb, MS, two sisters Deborah Drake-(William) Varnado of Brandon, MS and Salene Putman of Atlanta, GA. Three brothers Dalmer L., Ph.D (Dr. Jo Reed-) Drake Jr. of Prarieville, LA, Chris Putman and Travis Putman of Syracuse, NY along with long time friend Connie Duncan as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his fathers Clay Putman, Dalmer L. Drake Sr. and one brother Michael H. Putman.
