Celebrating the Life of
September 11, 1947 — December 31, 2020
Jon Steib of Perth Amboy, NJ, died on December 31, 2020 from complications of living his life exactly as he wished for 73 years.
Jon was a loyal husband and a loving father. He was also a veteran who served his country with honor, an entrepreneur and savvy businessman, a fisherman, an outdoorsman, a craftsman, and a painter. He played guitar and could sing like Dean Martin. He was better than you at pool, poker, and darts, and anything you could break, he could fix. He was rough around the edges and as handsome as the devil. He called it like he saw it. Over the course of his life, he elevated swearing to an art form, and never took sh*t from anybody. As he got older, he showed that you can always change for the better, and that it’s never too late to make it right. He took care of people who needed it, and left his world better than he found it. He was a real man, and he was one of a kind.
Jon is survived by his wife, Debbie, whom he loved with all of his heart; his boys, Chris and Mike, who are proud to call him their Dad; his grandchildren, Theo, Georgia, and Owen, who will carry on his legacy; his sister, Sharon, whom he drove crazy for 70 years; and a family of nieces, nephews, and loved ones who will miss him dearly.
There will not be a funeral at this time, but friends and family will come together to celebrate Jon’s life soon, when the world is safe again. He will be laid to rest at [...] with fellow veterans who served their country with honor. In lieu of flowers, Jon wants you take care of someone else who needs it.
Please share a photo or video, or post a heartfelt condolence to the family.
