Celebrating the Life of
November 8, 1967 — March 1, 2025
John A. Scofield, age 57, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his loved ones on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Tampa Bay General Hospital in Tampa, Florida.
John was born on November 8, 1967 in Freeport, Illinois to Leland and Ruby (Lane) Scofield. He met the love of his life Oneida (Ward) in North Carolina while working at Golden Corral restaurant as a manager in 1994, later marrying the following year in 1995. After moving and traveling with his family over the years, they landed in Florida where John worked at Shrimp Landing Marina and spent his days working on the water. John followed a life long passion for cars and later took a job as a Welder and Fabricator for Convertible Tops Specialists where he restored classic car parts. He enjoyed fishing, kayaking, classic cars, woodworking, space launches, and spending weekends with his family. John was a hardworking man who dedicated his life to his family, always believing that everything happened for a reason even if he didn't know why. He taught his family strength, hard work, dedication, and to live in peace for the things you love.
John is survived by his wife, Oneida (Ward) Scofield and their four children, John H. Trageser of Tokyo, Japan, Robert Trageser of Dunnellon FL, Leah Scofield of Fort Walton Beach FL, and Joshua Scofield of Citrus Springs FL; his brother Steven (Diane) Scofield of Nekoosa WI and brother Brian (Deb) Scofield of Texas; his nephews Christopher Scofield of Nekoosa WI, Zachary Scofield of Nekoosa WI, Roy Fisher of Monroe WI, and Robert White of Cresco IA; and his grandson John Ostenson of PA.
