John Claude Lovett III, 48, of Stone Mountain, Georgia transitioned Sunday, January 03, 2021. John was born at Clark Air Base in Angeles, Philippines on March 14, 1972 to Mary and John Claude Lovett Jr. He received a Bachelor's of Business from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) and a Masters of Criminology from the University of Cincinnati. John is married to Nick Mecala Lovett and tofether, they share Nick's two adult children Necole Christian Osborne (William) and Joseph Roberson III and two grandchildren, Liam and Zora Osborne. John worked as a school resource officer at Sutton Middle School via the Atlanta Public School System Police Department and was affectionately called a "teddy bear," by his professional peers. Formerly, John served as a DeKalb County, Ga. Police sergeant and investigator. A lover of literature, John wrote poetry and was a member of his local toastmasters club and actively served as a member of FAMU's alumni association. Jay as he was affectionately called by his wife is survived by his wife, stepchildren and step-grandchildren, his father, four siblings and a plethora of loving friends and family.
