Celebrating the Life of
February 2, 1940 — April 11, 2026
Jimmie L. Robinson, Sr. was born to Azzie Lee Bell and Wesley Robinson on February 2, 1940.
From an early age, he developed a love for life’s simple joys, especially working with flowers,
tending to the yard and spending time outdoors. He also had a deep appreciation for blues
music, concerts, and fellowship.
As a teenager, Jimmie met Cynthia Beatrice, and their love story began. At just 17 years old, he
told her that one day she would be his wife. Their young love grew through cherished
moments, sitting on the porch under watchful eyes, going to shows, and spending time
together on the swing after her workdays. Even when Cynthia attended her prom, Jimmie
faithfully waited outside for her to come out. At 19, Jimmie asked for her hand in marriage, and
in 1960, with the blessing of their families, they were united in holy matrimony.
Together, they built a beautiful life and welcomed their son, Jimmie “X-Ray” Robinson, Jr., the
following year. Their marriage was filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. They
enjoyed traveling to Mardi Gras, attending church outings, and spending time together at
Sanders Beach and Wingate Beach. Through every season, they shared a special bond, often
exchanging knowing glances, holding hands, and expressing their love in ways uniquely their
own. As Cynthia lovingly shared, he was her peanut butter and she was his jelly.
Jimmie was a faithful member of El Bethel Primitive Baptist Church in Mobile, Alabama, where
he served diligently on the Usher Board and the Pastor’s Aide Committee. His commitment to
his faith and service to others remained a cornerstone of his life.
Throughout his career, Jimmie worked faithfully while also nurturing his creative and personal
passions. In his later years, while residing at Arcadia Health and Rehabilitation Center, he
continued to express himself through artwork and participated in various activities. Even as
his health began to change, Jimmie remained in good spirits, a testament to his strength and
enduring faith. By his side through it all was his devoted wife, Cynthia, whose love never
wavered.
On April 11, 2026, Jimmie peacefully transitioned, catching a glimpse of heaven and choosing to
walk in. He was preceded in death by his parents, Azzie Lee Bell and Wesley Robinson; his
sisters Ruby Lee Hale, Alberta English, Eunice Pennington, and Kathy Harper; and his brother
BT Banks. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 66 years, Cynthia Beatrice
Robinson; his children Jimmie “X-Ray” Robinson, Donni Dixon, Donna Dixon Knight, Tony
Robinson, Christine Clemons Odom, and Anturio Clemons; his bonus daughters Michelle
Robinson and Tracy Boyd; his siblings Betty Jean Banks, Alisa Mims, Reverend John Harper,
Brenda Harper, Patricia Gipson, Marion Farraq, Jackie McElroy, and Belinda Terry.
His grandchildren include Janelle Dixon, Dashawn Dixon, Daquan Dixon, Deandre Dixon,
Terrace James, Regis Walker, Blaine Richardson, Ciera Odom, Aleshia Odom, Adve’na Clemons,
and Kendra Clemons. His bonus grandchildren include Tresina Dickens,
Arielle Thomas, Vatsana Hargrove, and Joshua Hargrove. His great-grandchildren include
Simone James, Zepheniah James, Terrance James, Kalini Odom, Ava Jones, Amauri Jones, and
Kai Jones; along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.
Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal, and though Jimmie now rests in Glory,
his love remains with us always.
