Jeffrey Scott Banks, a beloved father and sports enthusiast, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 26, 2024, at his home in Colorado Springs, CO at age 58. Jeff was born on July 26,1966 and raised in Aurora, Illinois. He was a proud graduate of West Aurora High School and continued to carry his hometown pride with him throughout his life. He was a lifetime member at Aurora Turners Club. As a young man he loved to fish and enjoyed trips to his family’s cabin in Iron River, WI. As a lifelong Chicago sports fan, he never missed a chance to cheer on his teams, especially when it came to the Chicago Cubs.
Jeff leaves behind two cherished daughters, Hannah Banks and Haley Banks, who were the pride and joy of his life. Jeff centered his life around his daughters, whether it was coaching their teams or supporting them from the sideline. From the start of Hannah and Haley’s lives, Jeff imparted many lifelong lessons onto them; the greatest one being “Hearing is a Privilege, Listening is a Skill.”
Jeff’s legacy of love, laughter, and sportsmanship will live on through his family and the many lives he touched. He was preceded in death by his father, Lewis (Bob) Banks.
Jeff is survived by his daughters Hannah Banks (Ryan), Haley Banks, mother, Janet Kowalke Banks (Chuck), his sister, Kimberley Banks, his nephew, Derek Santiago, his niece, Kaitlin Santiago, his uncles, Thomas Kowalke (Merry), Donald Kowalke (Stella), Donald Banks (Karen), David Banks, his Aunt Gloria Brolley (Richard), along with many cousins and lifelong friends.
A celebration of Jeff’s life will be held at a later date.
